Lack of moderators? - 03.15.2010, 07:59 PM

There are trolls appearing left, right and center at the moment, yet there are no moderators online to deal with them ( effectively )?

Of the mods that we do have, only BrianG & Artic are online on a fairly regular basis- is it time to retire some of the inactive mods who cant participate in the forum like they once used to, and appoint some new ones to deal with the ever increasing population of forum members?

I think it is personally, and some heavy-handed moderation is definately required- no repeated warnings, just outright banning and deleting of duplicate threads to keep the forum tidy.

I've never been the subject of a personal attack before, especially one that targets my employment, even after getting into heated debates- its uncalled for and drags the forum down; we dont want this place turning into the trx forums for God's sake.

Agreed. The trolling is getting old. I like RCM because it stays pretty calm and clean naturally, but lately a lot of garbage is seeping through. This is in no way a slight or stab at the active moderators.

I think Chris and Brian do a pretty good job. They let a fair amount of stuff slide, but will come down hard if necessary. I do agree that they could use a break. Maybe add a few more mods? Not sure who, as the vast majority of the over-active members are gits (including Neil) and I would not trust them with a sharp pencil. So maybe just leave well enough alone?

Total agreement Neil. There are some folks on this forum here that need to join the band.

I would rule with an iron fist, it is true, but Im very fair and usually just try to be helpful; its only idiots that dont contribute, or talk non-sense and start arguements that I would come down on in a heavy handed fashion.

I also would clean up duplicate threads and move stuff around abit, just to make the place look a bit more tidy ( old stickies that need de-cluttering etc ).

I'd vote for Linc as a mod, or several other long-standing members with a good record of good behaviour and helpfulness...

I hope you don't mean if you got elected you would would wish to end the Lincpimp style of back and forth banter??? That what makes this forum fun it's not all up tight with rules and moderators, and were all adult enough on here to say cut it out if things get out of hand. At least that's what I thought......

I will throw a few names out there:

Suicideneil, JThiessen, Lincpimp, and JERRY2KONE

I think all of those would be even handed and fair and take the appointment with a grain of salt as well.

Yeah, I was gonna dig it out but couldnt find it. Arct1k was appointed mod not all that long ago, and I do know that he & BrianG do a good job, but 2 active mods for ~8000 members isnt enough, too many sub-forums to deal with and tidy up, threads to move etc. Of the less active mods, I rarely see them actually moderating anymore- great guys, make no mistake, but life moves on, so they should probably hand over the reigns and go back to being normal members/ re-tired mod status or something- they have a similar deal over at BYT.com

Two years ago..... More authority figures have gone silent since then. Perhaps another poll?
