Just a rant... - 04.10.2010, 10:56 PM

I've seen more and more often on here folks asking questions about vehicle conversions and then going on eBay or somewhere else to buy some cheap knock-off conversion. If you're going to spend time on the forum asking questions about conversions, buy the conversion from RC-Monster. Keep in mind this is a forum to help support his store, especially products he manufactures, so getting support here and then buying a cheap imitation of one of his products is a bit of a slap in the face IMO.

quote some examples?

there arent alot of motor mount makers and other than losi's kit or a manufacturer's kits, you never see mounts on ebay. One thing to keep in mind is alot of people who are just staring out on 1/8 scale aren't ready to sink the money alot of us spend on rc, i know starting out i wouldn't spend $100 a year on stuff, now days I'm lucky if i spend less than $6000 a year on rc.

There are two threads posted recently where the folks bought HobbyPro conversions for their X2CRT.

As for the cost, IMO, if it's going to break someone to spend $30-40 more on a RCM conversion kit than a knock-off Chinese conversion kit, this probably isn't the hobby they should be in to begin with. For all we know, HobbyPro bought and copied the RCM motor mount like another company did with the slipperential.

i have mike's motor mount on my crt x2 and there are NO mesh problems even with hardcore bashing. i have a homemade mount on my cen matrix and it flexes on hard landings and even caused me to strip a plastic spur. the mesh is rock solid on my crt.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

I agree with this thread 100% and whenever I see these questions I try throwing the RC-Monster name in there. I also tell everyone at my track that I can about the monster. There may be some cheaper but nothing that has the quality and support of a genuine RC-Monster part
