Losi 8ight battery tray -
05.01.2010, 08:49 PM
Mike, I had seen mention of this in one of the 8ight-T threads and would love to get a more "specific" tray for my Losi. My battery will practically get lost in the stock tray. Any progress made on getting these to market? I'd definitely be interested in one.

Add velco in the tray and on your battery ;) It won't slide anymore, most people are doing this with and 8ight.

^ Yeah, Battery trays for the most part are vehicle specific, not battery specific.

I have used the losi tray in several rigs, not one of them was an 8ight. With the right amount of padding and some velcro, every battery is a perfect fit.

Mike was also going to move the tray for the ESC a bit to help center it and presuably predrill holes for the ESCs, etc like on his other tray. That alone is worth it to me. Plus if he has a production size to follow I'm sure making it for my battery wouldn't take much. I just want a tighter tray with more centralization honestly. The stock one just isn't quite right for me. Plus I haven't gotten an RC-Monster box lately...

The Losi trays are done and showing as an option in the battery tray product listing - they are '1 size fits both' for the buggy and truggy, so the ESC can't move any closer to the center-line than it already is(would interfere with buggy rear chassis brace). I did get the battery lower and closer to the center than the Losi tray, and also have brass inserts in the screw locations to prevent stripping and allow many installations without wearing out the screw holes(neither situation was a reported problem, but I am always tweaking my parts as I go along). :)

Mike, i noticed that. Pics will be up in a few minutes. The tray does fit the buggy and the truggy :)

May i ask you, brushlessboy, if the lipo tray in the photo is for a losi 8ight 2 buggy? When you ordered it on the store, did you select 8ight buggy/truggy or custom design?

I can tell you that the trays are for the 8ight series in general. My tray is nestled in a 2.0 buggy.
