I think Mike is developing a new style mount which should be released soon IIRC.
Are you running the Buggy or Truggy? Racing or bashing? Want speed or fun? What Motor and battery?
All that goes into determining the gear ratio desired.
I run a losi 2.0 truggy, MMM 2200kv combo on a 5s 6500mah pack, i use the truck mainly for track use - quite short and twisty - and need to be able to finish a 20min final on 1 pack. it seems good on a 45/11 but stripped the plastic spur like it was cheese so want a steel spur! Motor was meshed perfectly too.
I was thinking of getting a robinson racing 48t wide spur and running a 12-13t pinon on it, maybe even 11t??? there aren't really any long straights on our track.
I'm going with the 48t and 12t pinion myself, because on 5s top speed is still around 45mph with the 2200. I picked up the RR wide 48T because my shop had it in stock, but Losi makes a lightened 48T metal spur also. I'm still tempted to cut a slot in my chassis for the stock 50t though, just to get the pinion size back up to around 14-15t.
I cut a slot in my brand new 8ight-t 2.0 for the 50T spur. I bought the smart diff as well, lightened spur and out-drives. I run the 1518 on 5s geared 15/50.
I actually just got my used rcm mount yesterday and bolted it up today. I don't know if my situation is unique, but my 50t spur clears the chassis. It's close (1-3mm) but it clears with no cutting or grinding.

Yes - I will update the picture later today if i can - the Losi is now the same style as the new Mugen and Losi 10 mount(single adjustment screw). It will accept(and includes) M3 or M4 mount screws for the motor. :)
