Another LST2 conversion - 06.01.2010, 11:09 PM

So I decided to convert my LST2 since nitro is just painful to deal with and here's what I came up with. Here's what I used:

Losi LST conversion kit (Now I know some of you are not fans of this but it's actually pretty good & it's given me some good results, no wheelies either)
MMM v3 ESC
Neu-Castle 1520 1Y 1600kv motor
Traxxas Mamba Monster ESC holder

So with this kit I was able to keep the mechanical brakes by using the 3rd channel but I have no reverse but that's okay, I hardly use it anyway. I've tested it with 4S lipo & it hauls, the 1520 motor is a torque monster can't wait to try it with 6s I was really concerned of the wheelies but because of the aluminum side rails it added some heft to the truck so it doesn't wheelie at all Here's some pics.

That's a good looking LST!! Does the Losi kit retain the 2 speed?

Video??

Thanks, yes it does retain the 2 speed. Hope to have a video soon, can't wait to tear up the dirt with it.

That thing looks really good! That is giving me inspiration to give the Losi kit a try on another LST for my wife. Any idea if a Tekin motor will fit the Losi mount?

If you do a search for the thread on the Losi Conversion kit, I posted the maximum diameter of the can that the mount accepts. It was somewhere around 42mm I think.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

Very nice looking conversion. Nice work there. I am very surprised that it doesn't wheely. MMM, torquey NEU motor, batteries in the rear.... That thing should be able to wheely on demand. Slipper too loose maybe?

No brain, no headaches.

Thanks for all the compliments. Yes a Tekin will fit because it's about the same diameter as the 1520 and there's a little bit room to spare. As far as the no wheelie thing, my front end feels heavier than the back end even when the battery & motor are in the rear, also if you do use this kit mount the battery on the top tray instead of the lower so it's not so far back. I've always imagined that the beetle body would look good on the LST so thanks to Proline for releasing the body.

Good looking truck, glad you like the conversion. Curious why you don't have reverse though? Thought you'd just disable brakes on the MMM and run it and the brake servo off a y-harness, instead of mixing the third channel for brakes. Might take a little fiddling with channel reversing and switching motor wires around to get the everything to rotate the right direction, but I assumed it was possible?
