Touring Car Brushless motor,what KV ? - 07.13.2010, 11:06 AM

I've decided to ditch my go fast project due to several reasons and have ultimately gravitated towards to a new endevor.

Our Local Chicken Wing restaurant "Quaker Steak and Lube" will be hosting Asphault oval racing on Monday nights and I think this should be fun. The class I'm shooting for will be Nastruck themed. Any 1/10 scale TC with a truck body. So far they have not set limits on motor/esc and battery choices so that leaves the options wide open.

I've decided on this for a roller;
http://67.199.85.166/ae/tc5r/tc5r_home.php
It may be a bit over board but I can't see settleing on something cheaper when the price difference is only a hundred bucks from all plastic to full carbon fiber and anodized aluminum ?

Now the question is since I will be running 2s to keep it light weight and with the track being oval (not sure on straight away lenth yet) what would be a good KV choice to run with a MambaMax Pro ??
I would also consider a NEU motor for this app if I stick with this ?

This might also double as a straight line drag car out at the Friday night spot on rare ocassions with a 3s so if this is feasable BONUS.

I'm open to suggestions for the TC guys !
Thanks,
J.

EDIT; Scratch the NEU motors of the list, Just looked and everything is 5mm shaft except the 1100series and not sure they're big enough motors ?
The main problem lies with a 5mm bore 48pitch pinion being non-existant to my knowledge ?

I really like the looks of a tc5,I think they are competitive and resonable priced.

I've had a couple TC4 team kits (that I wish I never got rid of) and they were great cars. I'm confident the TC5 will be even better.

I have a lrp motor at 10000 kv, sell it to you cheap. Like 25 to your door.

Dont think this one will do 3s, maybe 2s, pretty sure it is for 1s.

I appreciate it Reno but I'll need a motor thats able to do 3s when the need for speed bites.
I'm thinking either the Castle 5700 or possibly the 6900 but It will not do 3s just not real sure yet.
Still looking and waiting for the general consensus of fellow memebers.

MMP and Novak Ballistic would be good choice. Somewhere in the 4000-6000kv range. The Ballistics are nice because you can buy different wind stators for relatively cheap and it's like having a new motor.

Excellent idea Jason, I'm so Castle orientated I didn't even think about Blovak. I'll have to do some reading over there and see what fancys me.
Thank you.

for short speed runs you can run even cm36 7700kv on 4s ! But off course it's not possible to use it as a daily car. Hacker onroad 540 size sensored motors will be a proper choice for high rpm too.

hey bondo, got a nib cm36 9000. 2s for sure, 3s aproaches the 100k rpm limit, but as long as you kept the motor loaded could probably work for a drag race. pm me if your interested. was going to convert a 2 wheel buggy into a road rocket with it, but sounds like might see better use in your tc if you want to go fast.
