shock set-up

front shocks seem to act/respond good, take a load and rebound to desired position.....

rear shocks start out up high, with throttle they lower substanially (torque ???) but then they stay down (a-arms level) and dont rebound, landing from a small (2-3 feet high jump rear skid bottoms and rear end stays low, will not rebound back up....

any suggestions, weak spring rate? need thinner/thicker oil? need better shocks? change oil piston?

what im running....... T-MAXX with INTEGY upper/lower arms, shock mounts, shocks....

Stiffer shocks might help, check if the pillowball retainers are not too tight on the pillowballs, or check if your rearsuspension isn't skewed or anything;

in other words; check for binding on your rearsuspension, if it doesn't bind, you'll need stronger springs.

im not sure about you, but i prefer my arms level. it makes the truck handle alot better. only downside is you need to retune the suspension for the low ride height. have you tried to screw down the shock spring collar to make the springs stiff?

Yes, and if there is no binding, the spring retainer is all the way down, than you need stiffer springs my friend. As squee mentioned, i too prefer my arms level, the truck just handles alot better!

the shocks dont seem to be binding, but i haven't shecked the pillow ball retainers yet, will do that right away..... as for the spring preload adjustment..... i have tried every different setting and still no rebound, so how do i find out what lbs. these springs are and where do i get stiffer ones?


and if i want to fully rebuild my shocks, what is a good wheight oil to use? i figure i should just stick with the 2 hole piston...... or not?

I'd try 1 hole piston, 50-60 wt oil, id try the rcraven dual rate springs they are really good springs. http://www.rcraveninc.com/category/e...alratesprings/

Take the tire off and shocks loose. Pick the arm up and see if it falls freely on its own. If not you have binding.

one hole piston really, i thought that would slow down the dampening rate too much...... but i guess ill try it

Changing to one hole pistons will make it even harder for the springs to push back when the shocks become compressed. Harder springs is the way.

But in the integy shocks, the piston holes are BIG. I mean one piston hole is equivialnt to 5 holes of normal piston holes.

ok, well the only other pistons i have are from the stock traxxas ones..... how about that?

I think those would work, only if the shaft is 3mm, give it a try.

how can i fing out the PPI on the integy springs, i see those RC-RAVEN ones are 3/7 ppi for the dual rates..... just trying to see what to do about this

changing piston helps for dampening compression, but really need stiffer springs for rebound.

nevermind..... i found it on their website.... integy shocks i have are 2.7 in/lbs. springs..... seem kinda week to me for the price of aftermarket shocks...

yea, for some reason the integys come with really weak springs. i had the powerstroke shocks and loved em. In my honest opinion there the best there is. like sylvester said, try the rc raven springs. i would go with those, 40 weight oil and 1 hole pistons.
