mmm esc help in e revo running a dx 3.0 tx - 10.15.2010, 09:33 PM

i just got back my MMM esc and 1515 motor from castle and it won't calibrate

i do not have the castle link to find out what firmware its running to see if this is an issue with my spectrum dx3.0 tx
also the fan is running as soon as i switch it on

it just continues to flash all colors the steering works
tried new rx same thing happens spent a good 2 hours trying and its just flashes and all i can do is curse at it and post here for some help

the radio works with my 1st gen mamba max and ez run combo

ive tried everything that castle states in its FAQ

this for one
3. My ESC may or may not arm, but it will not calibrate to my transmitter.

Most calibration issues can be solved by settings on the transmitter. Make sure you have both your throttle and brake endpoints (called EPA or ATV on your radio) on the throttle channel out to 100 to 120%. If you have a Futaba or Futaba made transmitter, set the throttle channel to the reversed position. Also, if you have a quick brake adjust (usually labeled “A” or “B” near your thumb position on the transmitter, make sure it too is out to 120%.

any help is appreciated

mick

I had the same issue with my DX3S and reversing the throttle channel solved the issue. Also make sure that the TX isn't too close to the truck. It can sometimes be an issue.
If all else fails call Castle.

make sure the trim is set to zero.
the fan being on full bore is normal, it's a check to make sure it works during ESC start up.

Just to make sure, you're holding full throttle on the transmitter when you turn on the ESC right? in order to get into the calibration setting on the ESC.

Mick,
Do you mean MMM is the monster esc? I have all Castle esc's micro, pro, monster working with DX3.0. Throttle Epa 125, sub trims 0. I'm in Petersham 2049 if I can be of any help. No fan comes on at startup on any fanned controller either, fyi.

The fan coming on is normal. This is going to sound really dumb but the power wire for the receiver cable of the mmm is in the center of the plug. It sounds as if your speedo is not getting any signal from your radio system even though the servo works cause the bec is powering the receiver. Try flipping the plug around and see if it works worth a try at least. I have even done this in haste at the track trying to make a race before. If that's not it I can't reall say what it is.

You probably have checked this already but have you tried calibrating without the servo? Also triple check that the ESC plug is in CH2 and facing the right direction.

According to this thread: http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...s-in-my-e-revo you need to max out your EPA's and if you haven't already use the CC Link to install a different version of the fw or at least reset the settings to default.

Definitely make sure your plugged into the rx in the right direction. The brown wire is the - and shold be in the location closest to the edge of your rx. I've made this mistake before and that is how I know it can happen and it's a good chance this is what happened
