HV MAXX / won't move as used to -
04.14.2006, 10:48 AM
I have an HV Maxx, two weeks old if that. It started out great, but now just coggs and stutters. You guys are the pros! So help me out if you can. When I try to hit the full throttle on it now, it just boggs. When my batts are half gone, it still does it a little but eventually i can get it to go full throttle. By then, i hardly have juice left....what's going on with this??? Someone, anyone, please HELP ME!!!!

How does it act when the vehicle is in the air, without a load? If it works fine that way, then it may just be a loose solder joint somewhere.

If you ran it hot or thermaled it a few times it may have messed the esc up.
Peace!

1) When in the air, it runs fairly good. On the ground it'll hardly move. i rechecked all the soldering and seemed solid and good.
2) Gearing: 72/11, volatage: 14.4 total? 7 cell IB3800's.
3) After it has been doing this, ran hot, like i couldn't touch it, and thermalled several times. But when i first got it, I ran the 70/12 set up, ran warm unless i did endless doughnuts, or until I fried the slipper because it was too loose. Then went to the 72/11, then all XXXX broke loose. It stuttered a little, then got worse and worse! Now it hardly moves!!! I want to send it back!!!! Not sure where though...thanks guys! Any other advice?

coolhand - you said if i thermalled it? my esc stays way cool, due to fan i think, it's the motor that gets blistering hot, so would that cause the esc to thermal? Just curious. Oh, i noticed the wires are hot too that come from the motor to esc...i'm gonna send this in. I did buy the 10xl!!! I was going to wait a couple weeks, but the old lady said go ahead!!! A little pouting gets very far! My truck is like my baby...LOL. thanks again guys for all the help!

If you have some 6 cell packs to try and see if it makes a difference. Some reason I had a problem samilar on 14 cells. Not sure why. It was like to much voltage or something.
Peace!

RC addiction - how much did it cost you the first time to send back? Do you have an address as Novak has not responded to emails or voice mails for their customer service...

it cost me 6 dollars in shipping and i had to do it through my LHS, yes you're right novak will not respond to the general consumer like they do with their distributors. it was under warranty up to 120 days from purchase but mine went back on the second day then it went back a month later and my 5.5 didn't even thermal but i noticed a performance drop then it exploded yes i had an actual fire, so much for thermal protection. now if it isn't under warranty your LHS can still send it for and estimated repair. my LHS told me the highest bill they've ever seen from novak for non warranty repair work was $60.00

This happened to me also after 2 weeks.
How long was there turn around?? I gave mine to my LHS and they sent it in. That was 2 weeks ago.
I bought a Novak setup becuase of there reputation. Now I dont think I will buy another Novak product.
I picked up a 9920 and 8XL and have not had any problems (except for too much power and breaking everything else).

I had that same problem when went to a 7xl at first. It would break up more stuff than I wanted it to. Sure liked the big power increase though.
Peace!
