I'm back--I hope - 10.30.2010, 12:28 AM

Been out of R/C for about a year now, been really busy with work and life in general. I'm hoping to get back into it though, still got most of my stuff and really trying to make some time to get back into it. For those of you that remember my Muggy, it was stolen last December and still hasn't been fully replaced. I have a new Muggy and it's been built up a bit but I'm still short a motor, ESC, batteries, motor mount, wheels, tires, and Rx. What have I missed in the last year? Looks like Castle is bringing out some kickass new products and there's plenty of new people on the forum, it's good to be back!

Well glad to have ya back U_S!

Yeah, I'm dizzy with all the new stuff that's coming out of Olathe, KS. Have you looked at their motor sale? You could get a 1717 for your Muggy for a bargain basement price.

welcome back. I've been bitten by the 5th scale bug. I built a 5b gasser for around $4000: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...ight=5b+thread

And now I am selling a couple t-maxx shelf queens to fund a brushless baja.

5th scale is the ish! Go big or go home!!

Thanks guys, I ordered a new 1717--couldn't believe the price!

5th scale is awesome, I've still got my Baja but it's in need of a new cylinder head and pipe (bad crash). BL 5th scale would be epic but with the funds I've got now I'm keeping it a gasser for now, and it's a ton of fun being gas (and goes through tires a bit slower ).

I see Mike has the MMM for $130 now, that's just amazing! My LHS is selling MMPs for $127, amazing how cheap this stuff is getting. I'm starting to get thoughts that I might have this sucker back up and running in the next 2-3 weeks if everything has gotten this much cheaper (new Spektrum Rx is only going to run me $50).

Any recommendations on batteries for my truck? I really liked the Turnigy lipos that were stolen with my first Muggy but heard HobbyCity's shipping is getting iffy and might look elsewhere for my batts. Hyperion G3s still look to be a hot item, but I'd like a pair of 3s lipos that will fit my Rustler's battery tray as well. They're a bit pricey but if I can't get Turnigys or some other decent cheap lipo then they're on the list.

hobbycity just opened up a US warehouse with a nice selection of lipos. i just got a pair of 3s 2200mah 40c packs, 200w charger, and a 6ch 2.4gHz tx/rx combo and the shipping was $10.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

Turnigy packs are now shipping from the USA warehouse. Don't have all the packs in stock but a good variety should be able to find some suitable packs. And the shipping is a bargain compared to the overseas air mail. It took three days to get mine in socal.

Boa beet me to it.

Sweet, will definitely look into some 5k 30C packs, they'll fit the Rusty tray with a little Dremel work. Definitely getting excited over having my truck back, I'm building this one up very similar to my old one. Too bad Losi discontinued this truck, it's hands-down the toughest truck I've ever owned plus it handles very well and looks cool. Fortunately it shares many of its parts with the LST so I can keep it going for a long time to come.

EDIT: Just came across this gem. It costs 2x what the Muggy mount costs and will involve some customizing to fit my chassis but that is just cool. Might be worth a slightly higher CoG to have a battery on each side to balance it out and not have a giant load of batteries hanging off one side like my old one. Anyone have any experience with this mount?

I think that mount won't last long with a 1717 - http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28327

Also not sure if the muggy diff is a drop in

Welcome back

Hey, welcome back! Have you seen these packs from Mike? I have a set and they have performed great so far, and have a nice compact size to them.

Not my farking fault the team always chokes when it matters most. I honestly don't care, for all the farking money, support and work this town puts into that team, we should be winning the championship every year.

FEAR the silence

Redshift: That thing is nasty!

R/C in Montana is a bit scarce, but it's picking up. Whenever I buzz a Soccer field at ~85 with my plane the hobby gets some of the attention it needs

2-3 weeks might be a little bit optimistic, but it's not like a little snow has ever stopped me before! I'll only put the trucks away when the snow hasn't been plowed and is too deep to drive through, then I just run something lighter that just skims the surface or go fly! I've been boating late into November, dodging chunks of ice in the pond. We're just hardcore like that.

Freeze: Sucks that you can't use that old bashing spot anymore, that place was awesome. If you get into trail trucks you should come with us to Norris sometime, there's some excellent terrain out there--it's the most fun you'll have with a 5 MPH truck.
