Lowball offers!

OK guys, I'm not trying to sell this on here cause who here wants a Stock 2wd slash! The slash is almost stock, has a RPM gear cover and an aftermarket body thats brand new, a non waterproof XL-5 esc, and a Spektrum/Losi radio system. The truck is almost like new, just a few scrapes on the lowest portions of the chassis where it scraped the ground and a frew scuffs on the bottom of the front A-arms. Also has the stock body that loks like new. I put this for sale on craigslist locally for $100, am I crazy? I got a guy trying to get it for $80, the rx alone is worth at least $40 and another $15 minimum for the losi TX, so I'm supposed to sell an almost new slash for $25, I DON'T THINK SO!

I know used RCs don't have much of a resale value at all but $100 is more than a fair price. Just last week I posted on a for sale add on RCTech, guy selling a used Savage Flux that he has had for 1.5 years for $600. I told him I could go buy a new one for $580, I didn't care that he had $200 worth of upgrades, it's still all used equipment.

Sorry for the rant, just wondering if anyone here can agree with me that $100 is a fair price for the Slash and $600 is to much for a used flux

craigslist is a pain sometimes, tons of lowballers trying to get stuff for next to nothing. In all fairness, you gotta haggle though. My father is pretty shrewd in that respect, but if you can get someone to come down, its more in your pocket. I do think its a fair price though, its just part of dealing on craigslist.

I'd say if you're asking $100 and he offers $80 - that's negotiating.

If he offered $50 - that's lowballing.

On line sales are always a gamble no matter where you list them. There are many factors that come into play for these sites. First off if anyone trying to make a purchase is serious, then they will look at MSRP to establish the NEW base price. Then it all depends on how old the items are and what condition they are in at the time of sale. Value depends on how badly the seller wants to get rid of the items. Garage sale value is always 10% of its original MSRP value ($600 new- $60). Anyone listing items for resale at anything higher than 80% of it s original value obviously does not really want to sell anything unless there is some level of rare collectability value involved. Plus there are site fees and shipping costs which someone has to absorb. So anywhere between 10% and 80% is your playing field. The rest is up to the two people making the deal.

Some people just think they are going to get all of their money back, in which case just walk away and let them keep the item. The only items where you can recover most if not all of your money is with things like the UE rare items like VBS, and such. Good luck with that.

Glad my other hobby isn't such a money pit! Guns hold their value quite well, and can even save you money, I'll spend $0.50 to keep a criminal from walking away with my valuables! Seriously on that note, I'd rather risk being charged with shooting the A-hole than letting him walk outta my place with anything! I hear all kinda stories, like if they're in your residence they're fair game and I've also heard that no matter what you can be charged if you shoot them. Personally I'll take my chances and shoot them! Don't break into my place and expect to walk out!

In my opinion the $80 offer is honest haggling on a $100 price, no foul.

Next time e-revonut put, "Price firm, No lowball offers" so potential buyers know you feel the price is botom line.

That is another good point. If you are firm on wanting $100, then state that in your ad. $100 firm, no OBO here. State what you want and make it stick. Otherwise expect to receive offers lower.

i couldn't have said it better myself. whenever you have a price that you don't state as FIRM, expect a lot of 80% of the asking price offers.

I feel that you are right on the money with your pricing. I do feel that some folks just don't like being fair. That or they are too ignorant to understand certain things. Honestly a good shape Slash roller should run around 80-100.

A few things to consider, your electronics may be new, but they are most likely unwanted in most situations. Nowadays I try to avoid selling RC's with electronics, I may give it a few weeks on RCtech or so, than it is parted out. Usually get more money that way anyway.

You figure, 80 for a roller, 40 for a 2.4 radio and rx, and say 25 for the esc and motor. Oh and the servo, maybe 20 if it is the stock one. Even if these prices go down a little you'll still come out with around 100.

I will agree placing a firm or no lowballers is the way to go. No matter what though even with this on there people will still send you a message asking for a lower price. I have had it happen to me so many times it is just annoying.

I fought it at first but now if I get one of those types of messages it gets deleted and ignored.
