Mamba Max Pro infos - 11.29.2010, 12:53 PM

I'll use a Mamba Max Pro as official ESC with my brand new 1512 - 1800Kv engine and 4s-40/50c-4000/5000Mah batteries...Should I use a Castle external BEC with 4s configuration according to you guys??
I'll have an Ace1015 steering servo or a Sanwa Erg-WX...
And should I use any external capacitor soldered to the deans (to guarantee protection in intensive usage - considering the 4mmq "little" cables)??

Any particular issues/mods to do to have a reliable Battery/engine/ESC system with my components??

Thanks in advance!

What car is it going in? MMPro is best for 1/8 Buggies or vlight trucks

With some high power servo's a BEC seems to be in order with the MMPro.

No need for extra caps IMO with that setup.

MBX6 brushless buggy + Ace1015 steering servo or Sanwa ERG-WZ...What does - With some high power servo's a BEC seems to be in order with the MMPro - mean?? Sorry but, as I'm Italian, sometimes I don't understand perfectly :-)
So no need of external bits with the above configuration????

I would do this: try first using internal BEC, if you have issues try a cap on the RX, if you still have issues use the CC BEC.

I think he means put a capacitor on the positive and negative leads of a spare channel on the receiver. Something like this:
http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_pi...20lvc_1.gif~18

The capacitor will help hold the voltage going to the receiver up near 5 or 6 volts. If it goes too low, the radio system will turn off and you will lose control.

Yes, I had issues with the MMP internal BEC and the cap fixed the problems for me. It helps reduce the "brown outs" caused by the voltage dropping in the internal BEC. Some servos cause the issues more than others, if they are very high-torque and power hungry.

You want a cap described as "Low ESR", rated for about 10-15V, 105C, and approx. 1000-3000 uF

One of those, rated for 12v should be fine- you can also buy them wired up already:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Novak-Novak-Gl...item53e450e259

it will plug right into a spare slot on the receiver ( aux/batt slot usually ).

You could go for the Novak or other pre-wired ones, but IMO they are way too expensive for something you can do yourself with a few minutes of soldering and an extra RX plug. Mike's caps are much more reasonable, but they are 35V caps and will be very large in size compared to a 10V cap of the same capacitance, they will work though (but are also currently listed out of stock).

I get mine on Ebay, do a search for "low ESR capacitor" and look for the specs I listed in my previous post.

This was just one I found first, shipping from China though, but free shipping: http://cgi.ebay.com/20-NIPPON-10V-22...item53e4e8b0c6

20 is probably way more than you need, but for the price is doesn't hurt to have them in your parts bin, you'd pay the same price for one Novak cap.

Here's another from Romania: http://cgi.ebay.com/Fujicon-Electrol...item5add72ddd2
