Savage Flux HP "Frostbyte II" takes on winter! *w/vid/pics - 12.21.2010, 01:59 AM

Allright, i've been gone for awhile as some of you may have noticed. I've been having some rough real life issues that required my attention and i'm just now getting back on my feet and starting to relax a bit. As such, my Flux has been sitting on the desk for months as a result. I hadn't planned on bothering to use it again until next spring. But current life events have kinda brought on a new perspective for me and honestly, I just don't give a crap about some stuff that I used to.

Needless to say, winter has hit full effect up here which all but shuts down all RCing of any kind. I've been wussing out at the chance to try my Flux in the snow as other people have as I basically didn't wanna chance frying my expensive truck for just the sake of having fun and showing off. After a fresh snowfall last night and watching more vids of peeps having fun with their Fluxs in the snow, and change in life perspective, I decided to say to hell with caution and prepped up "Frostbyte II" for its first annual snow run which will prove and warrant its name. I randomly came up with the idea to wrap the center of the chassis entirely with saran wrap and tape into a caccoon so all the vital parts were protected from the snow and minimize any chance of ruining the electronics. After a fresh top off on the Lipos, I headed out into the 15 degree weather.

I'll let the vid and pics do the rest of the talking. Enjoy! And the naysayers can't give me anymore crap about not running my truck in the snow.

Glad your back, I wound up getting a Flux and have been having fun with it in the snow as well. I geared my down a bit though as it's stupid fast for it's size and had to much wheel spin on snow.

Good to hear your getting back on your feet squeezenut. Can't keep a good man down ay.

You know, I don't get snow here so just watching the vid doesn't seem all that much fun. Don't get me wrong it has to 100% better than no rc but the pics look more fun for some reason. Good job keeping out the snow.

PP33, It's not all that fun in powder like that. It sucks allot of juice to push though tall snow. Snow that can be packed is fun to make ramps with. Hey Freeze did your MMM fan ever come on? Don't forget to WD-40 Ol Frosty II .

Not a clue. Never heard ESC fan though but lipos were warm due to constant full throttle. I couldn't exactly feel and take temps with everything wrapped in saran The full throttle and strain drained the batteries in less then 10 minutes so if things got hot, it wasn't for long. I was more concerned with keeping the electronics dry then temps honestly.
