Not the prettiest Baja type vehicle ever but it seems like it could be converted easily enough- just have to find room for the batts really ( different colours available, just back-track to the 1/5 gas powered section ). Uses a center diff/ spool arrangement thats driven by a similar style tranny/ gearbox to a HPI baja- similar to some MCD? trucks seen in the past. Might be worth a punt if someones game, though no idea who actually makes it so getting parts may be tricky...

You should be able to get it much cheaper than that. In my part of the woods it is known as HSP brand. Not renown for quality but can't comment on the 1/5th scale since I have never been near one. Would be good to see a running vid.

Yea real cute how they list the MSRP at almost $2500. with a sale price of $679. I bet a bunch of people are going to see that as a good deal. The vehicle is interesting enough, but still not up to the quality of the HPI Baja 5b. I wonder how long the diffs will hold up on that thing? Still too much plastic for a 1/5th scale with a 30cc engine pushing it. Love to hear some hands on experience with it.

I think its also the same as the redcat. http://www.redcatracing.com/RC-Cars/...Rampage-DR-4X4 I think parts would be easily had, lots of hobby shops are starting to carry Redcat now. And after seeing GEE's Redcat Rampage MT it seems of HPI quality to me.

Built Ford tough, with Chevy stuff.

If you like it, get it. I have a Redcat 4x4, basically the same as that one and its build and parts quality is every bit as good as HPI, i.e; it holds up to brushless power just as well as any other big name brand car.

The redcat dunerunner looks good, a little more rail like, similar to the hpi baja 5b. I was not a fan of the other redcat buggy, looked to short to me. I would like to get one of these dunerunners to convert. Since it has a center drive setup it would not be too hard to make a rcm style motor mount and put a std type spur gear on it.

Fair dos, does look near identical to the dunrunner, so good to know parts are available; for the kind of driving I would hypothetically do, I cant imagine there would be issues with durability really besides occasional bearing changes and checking diffs for wear.

The loony in me loves this picture:

dune buggy with mahoosive tyres, just need to trim the front bumper so its more 1/8 buggy style..

I think we just got the word of the day there "mahoosive"

Cool looking with those wheels on it though. Should make a killer bashing machine.

I'm thinking these would be fun on petrol alone though. I always figured if I were ever to get one of these 1/5th scales I would leave it gas. Think about it with gas you can go hours, and tuning is as easy as tuning your weed whacker or lawn mower.

I picture myself on the dunes with one of these for a few hours straight. If you could fit a high mah receiver pack in there you really could go forever.

Yep, get some of the smaller low c rated lipos and make a really big 2s multiple p pack. 8000+ mah would give runtimes in the hours... Or maybe go to a 6s pack and use a ccbec to bring it down to 6v.
