So which 1/5 scale should I get? - 02.04.2011, 02:01 AM

So here I am, proud owner of a new 2028, and a hydra hv 180. And alot of lipos. (always had those)

So what larger scale ride should I convert?

I know alot of people will say baja, but I really do not care for 2wd, and I already had one.

So I am looking at the redcat dunerunner, that looks pretty cool.

Or should I go with one of the big on road cars, I can imagine that big azz motor pushing a 1/5 scale car past 70 with ease.

And to be honest I run on the street more than anything else. And I have strick off road MTs to use off the street.

A big on road car really sounds interesting now...

So what do you gyus think? I am not really up to date on all of the 1/5 offerings, throw me some ideas, links and pics!! Help a pimp spend some of his earninz!

I would LOVE to convert over one of the FG Formula 1 cars. I just think it's unique and an awesome machine. And even though it's 2WD I think it would have plenty of traction compared to a Baja.

I know your a cheap a$$, so my suggestion would be get the redcat dunerunner and then slam it and get on road tires. That'd be your cheapest option.

Just be sure to buy a V3, they have all the bugs worked out.

Plus you have all the guidance from RyuJames rampage build.

Anything besides the 5b is gonna take some fabricating. Are you up to the task?

+1 that car is so damn sexy! But very expensive, even used on eBay.

Ha, I laugh at fabricating. Mainly cause actually trying to make stuff is really hard, and laughing instead takes alot less effort.

Yeah, I could do a baja, and just put mech front brakes on it. Mainly like 4wd for good stopping, as 2wd sucks. Last thing I want is a 20+ lb truck sliding to a stop into my leg.

Are the integy baja front brakes still poo?

fyi: 2028 is 57mm diameter 6.5mm extra per side. I think with a larger pinion it would fit.

I almost wish I hadn't started my e5b build now. I've already got more than $800 into it, and I'm waiting for Mike to get the xl's!!!

Even for onroad I think your better off with 4wd for ease of handling with that amount of power. Rear tires won't last long on 2wd.

You could look at getting a Savage Flux and doing this conversion on it to 5th scale:

That and some on road treads, lowered suspension, and you would be in business!

Sorry dude, but the wimpy savage parts would not hold up to the 2028 motor...

Plus i want to go actual 5th scale, I have not done a 5th conversion yet.
