questions and help

Hi guys,
Im building my first brushless emaxx and have a few questions.
First, what is the difference between a BK Electronics 12020 Warrior Controller and a
Warrior 9920 Brushless Controller? I did ask Mike, but he hasn't got back to me yet.

Im going to buy an BK 8XL and one of the controllers mentioned above. I plan on running 16-18 4200 cells and will use a UBEC. More questions. Does this stuff come with mounting hardware, what about wiring it all together(any pics?)

To be honest, once I get the batteries and motor etc I dont even know how to turn this thing on :dft001:

This is what I have so far
FLM chassis, upper & lower arms, hybrid bulks
MIP CVDS
UE 8 spyder diffs
Single Speed tranny with UE idler.
Big Joes series 40 tires
Shocks upgraded to handle the overall weight
What else do I need that I dont know about?

everything is really good. nice truck, mounting the esc. is totally up to you on where you want to place it. the difference is that the 12020 takes 120 amps and the 9920 takes less but there both the same escs.
those integy shocks are going to bend on your soon. but if its road then there fine.

VERY NICE TRUCK!! ok, few answers to your questions and a few bits of advise. first off, the only difference in the warrior 12020 and the 9920 is the amp. the 12020 is capable of 20 cells and 120 amps constant and the 9920 is capable of 99 amps constant and 20 cells. i wouldnt go with the 8xl on that high of a cell count. i would go for like a 10xl for good runtimes and speed or for just plain insane speed and decent (but not GREAT) runtimes i would go for the 9xl. i would also go for the strobe slipper. with that much power you will probably fry that stocker on your first run. also, it appears asthough thats stock servo? i would go for a hitec 645mg or a bluebird 630 to save a little money although you will need a radio with adjustable endpoints for the bluebird so it doesnt fry. also, i would upgrade that stock radio and go for aluminum shock towers. very nice truck!!

The 12020 takes the same amount of cells, it just has a higher amp rating. Ex: 9920 - 99 Amps 20 Cells / 12020 - 120 Amps 20 cells. For 16-18 cells id go with a 9xl or 10xl. It doesnt come with mounting hardware, but all you need is deans wire and deans plugs, but that doesnt cost alot.

Id sell off those integy shocks and get some UE shock. Everything looks fine. And welcome to the forums!

Ok, I will go with a Warrior 9920 Brushless Controller. As for the motor either a 9XL or 10XL? I guess one is faster and one will give me more run time? I read in the description of the motor, "additional connectors will be needed to attach to controller" What connectors are needed??

With the Strobe slipper setup I guess I need 5mm bore, Mod1 pinions for this. No clue to what that is. A link would be helpful.

Next is the gearing ?'s Does 16/51 or 18/51 with the Strobe slipper setup sound about right? Remember Big Joes running 16-18 cells

Im trying to keep up with one of those Revo 3.3's. Think it will?

there isin't any mounting hardware. so its up to you on where you want to put it. also the wiring can be done easly with a solder and the installation comes with the bl controller.

9xl on big joes with the ue diffs I would run a 15 51 on 18cells. I accually like the 14 tooth a little more with the big joes. Get the monster motor clamp to.

Ok, before I order I want to make sure this is what I need.

Warrior 9920 Brushless Controller
BK 9XL Motor with RC-Monster Brushless Heatsink/clamp
Deans wire/connectors

Nylon 51 tooth spur gear - Ofna
5mm bore, mod1 pitch pinion (14 or 15 tooth)
Strobe Slipper Kit w/Bearings

What am I over looking?

You will need a few 3mm screws to attach the spur to the strobe. You also need the stock pressure plates and spring for the slipper unit.

Not sure anyone can answer this, but I thought I would ask anyway because you guys have been great so far.

How much more run time will I get with the 10XL motor vs. 9xl
and
how much top end speed will I lose going with the 10XL.

You'll see a 3-5 minute difference, not really sure, depends how you drive on what terrain. You wont lose any noticable top speed, gearing higher will compensate for the 9xl.

just keep in mind, like sylvester said, you can gear up, but gearing up will decrease runtime. for my setup i am currently running 20/51. i think 18/51 will give a little bit better runtimes for example.
