how to find out the kv of a neu motor? - 04.05.2011, 06:28 PM

I recently acquired a finned neu 1515 series motor. There is no label or markings on it. How would I go about finding the kv of it?

Thanks!

The newer mamba monsters have a kv test program, Im not sure how effective it would be with the abundance of different pole counts and other varying factors. but it may be worth a shot

I think the kv test will give the results assuming a 2-pole motor, so you have to divide by 2 to get the value for a 4-pole.

See this post by Thomas Porfert: http://rc-monsters.com/forum/showpos...21&postcount=1

EDIT: Another option would be to use an EagleTree datalogger with the brushless motor RPM sensor. Briefly bench test the motor going to full throttle momentarily (no load on the motor). Then divide max RPM recorded by the voltage at max RPM and you'll get the kv.

Hmmm, I'll give the castle kv tester a shot (don't have a datalogger)

Thanks!

Well considering that I probably want to sell it (will consider other wise if its a 2.5D) I sent it into Neu. They will do it free of charge, I just pay return shipping.
