You could use a venom temp failsafe, it monitors the motor temp (for nitro gas motors) and shuts off the throttle at a specific temp.

I'm sorry, but you are mistaken.
The standard sensor wire connector contains the following pinout:
Pin #1- Black wire-ground potential
Pin #2- Orange wire-phase C
Pin #3- White wire-phase B
Pin #4- Green wire-phase A
Pin #5- Blue wire-temp control, 10 k Thermistor referenced to ground potential
Pin #6- Red wire-+ 5.0 volts =/- 10%
To the best of my knowledge every sensored motor conforms to this standard (which is also the ROAR stock motor rules mandatory standard) and therefore has in it 4 separate sensors, 3 position sensors (output pins 2-4)and one temperature sensor (output pin 5).
The sensors must be standardized, or else motors from one manufacturer would not work with an ESC from another.
I have an old Novak GTB that can shut down based on the motor temperature and, until you wrote the MMP can't, I assumed that most sensored ESC monitors the motor temperature.
I'm not really worried enough about motor temps to be bothered with an external thermal failsafe, but I would have a little extra peace of mind if I knew the ESC has such a feature.
