Hot bodies 1/8 diffs

I bought flm hybrid bulks and almost have all the parts.I just need 1 more hbsc 8028 43t bevel gear and I can put them together. Does anyone know where I can find one? It seems that no has it in stock. If someone has one for sale I would buy it.

says its for the hpi trophy 3.5- it looks identical though so I'd guess its the same as the lightning buggy diff part... possibly.

Those will be a direct fit for the FLM hybrid bulks, or just rob the ring gear and maybe the pinion too if the teeth dont quite match up perfectly with the HB gears- they should though really. Only $5 more than the HB ring gear on it's own + you get nearly a whole spare diff...

Never heard of them, but if it's a European website thats probably why ( I mainly come across English, American or Chinese sites )- they take paypal and creditcard so you should be perfectly safe if they dont deliver the goods. :)

I'm putting together one of my hybrid bulks, and I am trying to get the right number of shims. Is it normal to hear any noise from the gears? or should it be completely silent? I am using gorilla snawt on the ring and pinion. I tried it with 2 shims and had some noise. I tried it with 3 shims with more noise. No shims about the same amount of noise. 1 shim seems to be the best, but i can't get it completely silent.

It's not noise you should be looking for really, its much more about feel & smoothness.
Ideally the pinion gear shouldnt be able to move in or out more than a fraction- it shouldnt bind however as you rotate it / the ring gear once assembled. Likewise, the ring gear / output shafts shouldnt be able to move in or out ( side to side ) more than a fraction.

Every diff is different due to maching tolerances but a few 0.2mm shims hear and there should do the trick; so long as the diff roates smoothly and doesnt bind or have excessive play, you'll be fine :)

I have little to no play at all in the output shaft so I think I'm O.K.

Are you using the hybrids on FLM's extended chasis? If so, how well does your front drive shaft connect to the break?

I will be using my hybrids on FLM's extended chassis, but I don't have all my parts. I am awaiting the arivial of my ring gear from some where out of Europe. The main part that I am waiting for is the universal CD/engine mount. I recieved word that Mike is tweaking the mount and they should be ready soon. As soon as I get those parts I can complete my build. So for now I can't answer your question, but I hope I will be able soon. I will post pics of the build process here when I can.

The new CD/motor mount is now up for sale. I have one on the way. I hoping that the ring gear will come in the next few days. It is marked as shipped but it is coming from
Malta of all places so I don't know how long it will take to ship.

Do you guys have any idea what size shims I should use to stop the little bit of side to side movement of the diffs?

I've been digging through this thread a little bit tonight and came across this post you had about the side to side movement. Did it take several shims to get the output shafts set right or not ? I'm worried about me putting the shims inbetween the output shaft cross pin and the o-ring. The shims aren't going to cause a problem with this are they? I don't want to have To redo all this again.

I believe I had to put two shims just on one side. It was between the output shaft and the bearing (outside the diff case but inside the hybrid bulkhead ). I can't remember if it was on the ring gear side or the other side. I think I tried it both ways and one side was better than the other. Just don't locktite everything down until you find the right combo. Take your time and you won't have to ever do it again, and no it did not cause any problems at all in fact it helped smooth everything out.

I'm about to assemble the turnbuckles and I need to glue/epoxy the ends on to the fullforce carbon fiber rods. What should I use? I'm not sure ca glue will be enough.
