Nevermind, it's not as bad as it sounds. 4-pole motors are allowed, just not 550 4-pole.

Patrick, where does your 1410 fall in this (540? 550?).

Ok so I know they are trying to keep the playing field level for everyone but how can the brushless motor industry make advancements when roar keeps making rules that castrates success?

I believe its time for castle to introduce some sensored motors to its lineup that waay outperform the orange stuff. Knowing roar though they would find some reason to render a sensored 1406-1410 illegal to race with. Especially if they were strides better than anything that novak had on the market along with the others that are roar legal.

Looks like they force you guys to go back to 2 pol crap

Quote:
External shaft diameter may be either 0.125 inches (3.175mm) or 0.197 inches (5mm). Only one piece, two pole Neodymium sintered, or Ferrite (Ceramic) magnetic rotors are permitted. The magnet length shall be a minimum of 39.0mm and maximum of 46.0mm not including any nonmagnetic balancing material. The magnet outside diameter shall have a minimum of 12.3mm and a maximum of 14.0mm, no tolerance, for the entire length of the magnet.

kind regards

Mirko

But only for 550s.

The 540 4 pole motors appear to be plenty powerful for racing application (note: racing, not bashing). since ROAR limits batteries to 2S for racing (note: racing, not bashing) the lower KV of a 550 4-pole motor (like the Castle 1415) make them less than useful for racing (note: racing, not bashing).

So in the end, this doesn't really making any difference for racing.

Since none of you guys enter ROAR races, why do you care?

And BTW, it is not "back to 2 pole crap", since there were no 4 pole 550 motors sutable for ROAR racing (note: racing, not bashing) anyway.

But.... you didn't consider the 1415 / .5Y motor -- 4800Kv.

Do you sell those yet? I only see the 2400KV 1415 listed on the web site.

Ok so sorry to be a little off topic but speaking of roar legal motors, any idea when there might be some sensored CC motors I can use with my nice new MMPro?

I have a ROAR rep., puppet whatever one likes to call these technology enders fools (hope that made sense, but in Portuguese it did ) saying 4 and 6 pole motors are ROAR legal. It's in RCTech's forum and I also have a screen shot of the post. It seems to me if one wants to make a 540 or 550 sized motor with a 4, 6 or 8 pole rotors and a stator with more then 12 slots will basically only have the bashers for support, but this also proves how ROAR only makes the rules to help a few companies and they will keep our technology from getting better.

I don't think ROAR rules keep technology from getting better.

Look at the 1410 and 1406 motors.

In fact, from my understanding, we have this awesome 1410 motor partly because of ROAR rules: Castle wanting to show the world what you can do with good motor design within those limited parameters set forth in the ROAR rules.
