Sidewinder micro/Mamba micro pro too.... - 07.07.2011, 12:07 PM

Can I use Sidewinder Micro/Mamba micro pro for flying?
Or is any solution to do a software update so I can convert Sidewinder micro/Mamba micro pro to Phoenix ESC?

Thanks in advance.

I've never tried to connect a surface esc to an air radio. That would be the only issue I can see. It should calibrate fine though, I know SuicideNeil runs an aircraft stick radio on his surface vehicles. After calibration, connect Castle Link to the esc. Disable reverse, set brake and drag brake to zero. Make sure the planes fuselage has some airflow on the inside and the esc is in it. Castle rates all their airplane esc's with a 5mph wnd over them.

i think it should work with no problems except that the throttle stick on the tx would have to be in the middle position to arm and not be at full brake.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

Yeah, no issues here with a stick radio and an MMM- just make sure the radio you use has a throttle which stays where you leave it, rather than springing back to the neutral position.

So when I will disabled the reverse feauture.
I will get the full throtlle band (0-100 %) of the Sidewinder?

Why is the Phoenix-25 more expensive if it's same as Sidewinder?

How can I use the full throtlle range of my air radio?
Because during the esc calibration, you need to set the idle point.
So after calibration I lost a small amount of the throttle stick travel.

You wont be able to use the throttle quite how you want to, or how I think you want to- even if you disable reverse you still have to set the neutral point as the center position on the throttle travel ( neither up or down, just in the middle ). That means you will only have half the throttle travel, you can't set the full-reverse/brake position ( stick all the way down ) as neutral or idle.

Okay thanks for your help!
Well its just a small amount of the stick travel (few milimeters).
So I can live with that, I really like the Sidewinder on my aircraft

Thanks all!
