What a mistake I made.... - 08.29.2011, 09:16 AM

Hey all -

I picked up a LST XXL online cheap, looking for something I can convert over to brushless. Got it, fully expecting the nitro engine to be shot, even though it had "a couple tanks run through it", but it turns out the thing is actually as described.

I haven't run nitro in a while, so picked up some fuel and was having fun with it, tuning, making noise, smoke, you know the drill.

Well, yesterday after the hurricane blew out, I took the LST out for a quick one tank run just to enjoy the fact that it wasn't pouring rain.

Came back, and wanted more, so grabbed my e-MGT 8.0 conversion and my 2 4s packs, and went bashing. Not having run my brushless truck in a couple weeks, my throttle finger isn't used to the power of brushless, and the truck, with barely a blip in the throttle, flipped upside down. This happened a few times until I got my finger used to 4s lipo again.

I couldn't stop smiling. Going right from nitro, to brushless, was a huge mistake. You don't really notice it much if you spend extended periods of time on one vs. the other, but going within 10 minutes from a well tuned nitro engine, to an e-MGT with way too much power, makes you really appreciate the power these things put out.

Now I have to burn up the rest of the fuel I bought thinking I'd keep this thing nitro for a little while longer! I can't wait to get it converted. I did enjoy the smell and tuning of nitro, even the burnt knuckle on the darn exhaust, but the power you get from brushless, that's what I'm after!

Just a fun story, not a bash at all to nitro, I'm just a power junkie and can't get a good enough fix off of a nitro engine.

10k
