Question GorillaMaxx G1 tranny and RR Gen3 slipper unit - 01.10.2012, 08:25 AM

I have this GorillaMaxx G1 tranny with GMaxx drivedog, strobe slipper, RCM iddler and FLM half-case:

The challenge is:

Quote:
I want to use a Robinson Racing Gen 3 slipper unit and I want to be able to use the Traxxas 5151R center drive shafts.
I've seen various threads here and there showing off completed conversions but I haven't found a description detailed enough on how to do it. Hence my thread.

Here's what I have so far:

- Input shaft. Can I get the #5366 and which 18T gear should I use? Or should I buy the #3992 input shaft with gear already installed (downside is that it requires some heavy modding to the gear as far as I can see)?

- Output shaft. Do I need to change it or am already using the newer #3969 output shaft?

- Anything else? What did I miss?

Thanks in advance.

The center shafts will be determined more by your chassis.

Here was a great guide:

A different approach but also useful:

Right, so I ordered the #5366 Transmission Input Shaft Revo and the #3993 Input Shft Drive Gear. Should be all I need but I guess I'll find out.

Found out that the #3969 output shaft will *not* work in my G1 transmission (which uses a #3994 output shaft).
