Error when Programing MGM - 05.13.2006, 06:56 PM

OK guys I need some help here. I have never had a problem programing a controller before. I have the MGM16024 and a Spektrum DX3. The error that I get is continuous beeping (0.25 sec.) and flashing when trying to program it. Any sugestions?

Have you tried reversing the throttle channel on the transmitter?

That was one of the first things that I tried.

I found another thread on this but it was not resolved.

Did you make sure the rec. wire is plugged in good? Also, the wires on the motor to the esc are plugged in good to each other.

Mine does this when the esc isn't seeing the transmitter. I have a JR XS3 and I use it with all of my cars. Sometimes when I have it set to a different model I get the same constant beeping.

I have checked the wires several times but will check them again. The transmitter is new and this is the first rc it is being used in. I know the receiver is getting the signal from the radio because the steering servo works. I may try a different radio as a test.

Well I've tried 2 other radios making sure all wires are in all the way, with and without bec, trying channels at normal and reversed, throttle all the way forward, full brake/reverse, neutral and all the controller wants to do is flash and beep(0.25 sec intervals).

mine drove me nuts
1 reset tx
2 enter program mode, adj throttle trim so mgm beeps in fullthrottle, reverse and most important neutral
3 set all parameters including auto neutral sensing
4 enter program mode again and set auto tuning
5 it will run

1. What am I reseting the tx (I assume you mean transmitter)to? I started with the factory settings and it did not work (got error as discribed above), then I tried other settings and got the same error.
2. I can not even get to the programing mode on the MGM, thats the problem. All I get is the 0.25 sec. beeps and flashing error.

are you holding full throttle when powering up ?
if so try full brake that would mean you need to reverse your tx setting

I have tried full throttle, full brake, neutral and reversing the channel and I always get the same beep flash error.

Unplug the battery and let it sit for a second and then try it again.

Kind of hate to say it, but it sounds like it might be a dud. If you haven't already contacted Mike about it (assuming you bought it from him), ask him if there's anything he can do besides (or before) sending it to MGM (if he does end up doing that).

Well I'm an idiot!! Thanks speeddude! I forgot the MGM16024 does not have an internal bec. I removed what would normaly be the power wire (red center wire) on the connector going from the controller to the receiver because I wanted 6V to power the steering sero (using an external bec or receiver pack). I reconected the red wire and everything works great!!
