I'm confused - Castle has no mention of the kits, they aren't show as packaged in the eBay ad, and they claim to work for both old 1717s and new XO-1 1717s - but Patrick has stated that the new motors have different rotors:

We have never made a rebuild kit for the 1717 motor; and we most likely never will unless Traxxas requests one. Be careful with some of those eBay stores. They are taking apart RTR vehicles and selling the pieces individually. Any Castle ESC or motor purchased from a stripped RTR vehicle does not carry our warranty; although it is still eligible for the non-warranty replacement program.
We did have some rotors that we shipped out during the big 1/8th motor sale; because we had shipped 1717's with a 6mm shaft instead of a 5mm shaft. But that is the only replacement parts for the 1717 that we have released.
I was going to say sikes is a member here and he signed on for a minute this afternoon so I didn't bother waiting to see his post. I thought he was going to say.
"I got some rotors that castle shipped out during the big 1/8th motor sale; because they had shipped 1717's with a 6mm shaft instead of a 5mm shaft. But I liked the 6mm shaft and have sold the motors and had these left over. "
Its only sense that if the stators are the same , The rotor will work . However your motor will be gimped . At least thats what castle support explained when i begged for a repair kit.
