Castle/Hpi Alphastar 2350kv motor can screws - 03.04.2013, 08:26 PM

So i recently got bought this motor from a buddy out of a rtr savage flux 2350. He decided he wanted to take it apart and ended up stripping all the tiny allen's that hold both end bells on. I managed to remove all the screws with a little bit of heat and a handy dremel.

Now my problems is finding hardware to replace these. I measure them at 2mm in diameter and 3.5mm long. I went to my LHS and he didn't have anything and said maybe try looking to see if something small like a mini T had hardware like that. so i headed home thinking my Mini 8ight might have something and nope!

I'm in need of some help sourcing some of these screws, I'm having a hard time and am almost ready to drill and tap it for bigger M3 hardware. This is the only thing holding me up on my project and i want to finish it!

McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) has 2MM Socket cap screws in 3MM or 4MM lengths (not 3.5MM).

You could also try Fastener Express for smaller quantities but you will probably end up paying the same (or more) in total because Fastener Express has a fixed minimum shipping charge and McMaster only charges what it costs to ship.

I have some from McMaster that I use on my Mini-Ts instead of the phillips drive screws but nothing that short.

I think I'm gonna end up buying a m2.5x .45 tap and drilling and tapping the end bells for some more common sized screws. after shipping for 6 screws it's about.the same price and I already have m2.5 screws from my mini 8ight
