Pinions for breakfast - 07.15.2006, 10:20 AM

Hello,

I was using a plastic spur gear on my E-Truggy and thanks to some changes I'm now using a hardened steel spur gear. I popped on a brand new 13 tooth pinion and in less than 5 mins it was toast. The pinion is all kinds of unhappy...With the old spur, these pinions were amazing, they had almost no wear. So the question is...when using a steel spur, does one have to use special pinions? What kind?

Thanks!

DM

(PS- all this is Mod1 stuff)

You have to use hardened pinion gears with the hardened spur gears. They are sold here from 11t-15t.

Ratz! I just saw that myself...when I bought mine earlier this year the hardned one's weren't out...oh well live and learn...

Anyone one to trade ONE hardned 5mm Mod1 for THREE good standard one's (11/12/16) (I'll throw in the 4th (13) one which got roasted this morning too!)
