I was going to convert my Hyper 7, but it would cost to much. I have been reading these forums and especialy the MT2 conversions. Now I want one of my own. I have been looking for a good MT2 18SS roller which is really hard to find. But when I find a god roller I'm going to get it. I still don't know alot about electrics. Basicaly........I want no less than 15 minute runs. I need at least 30mph or I just wont have any fun. 45mph would be nice. I wanted to use one of the mamba max systems because of the price. I'm going to use IB 4200 batteries. I don't want to have to worry about heat. I don't need anything crazy. I'm just going to chase the dogs around the backyard when I'm bored. Later on I will go all out on this thing. Anyways.. i need some help. Thanks.

45 mph isn't really a problem,pretty easy to achieve in one of these trucks.Any where from 8 to 12 cells is where you want to be.How much do you want to spend on the system? also think about how many cells you want to run,the packaging is a little difficult in these conversion because of the space,i think with 12 cells you end with a saddle pack that's stacked.

Did you see this threadhttp://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3337 these cells fit well in the MT2s,that's like a 60mph setup though,about as much power as you'll cram into one right now,unless there are some square shaped lipo cells i don't know about.

Gustav, I have seen some square shaped 3000's. Don't remember where, but I know I've seen em.

Wow, the MT2 conversion is getting really popular. Camel_rc started a trend! lol! Be patient with your search for a roller, and you'll find a good deal. I got really lucky with mine. I bought a used RTR MT2 18SS for only $150 on one of the forums. After I sold the engine, pipe, radio, receiver, and one servo, the truck only cost me about $40, and that's including a 645MG servo that I kept that came with the truck!

As for a setup, how many cells will you run, like gustav asked? I think one of the Mamba Max systems might work really well in the truck as long as you gear conservatively. I've been wondering how well the MM 4600 motor would run in mine with 4s geared 52/12. I bet it would scream!

i emailed castle and they suggested the MM4600 on 6 or 7 cells with a 17t gear. they said i would get the speeds and run times i wanted. Does that sound right to you? I was thinking at least the MM5700.

never mind i need so sell my hyper 7 first. i will keep looking for something better.

You'll get a good runtime with a 4600 on 6~7 cells, but your speed will be below 40 mph. If you are only going to use 6~7 cells, I'd get a 5700. It should get you over 40 mph, but the runtime will be a few minutes less. I think you'd still get 15 minutes with IB4200 cells.

If runtime is your primary concern, get the 4600, but if you'd rather have more speed than runtime, get the 5700.

parts are every where for the mt2. i really like the hot bodies lightning gt10. that would be fun to convert. anyways. thanks guys.

I figured I'd post in this thread and see if anyone can help before I start a new thread. I've got an 18SS on the way to convert and would like to know which of the following motors would be best suited to it. I have these motors sitting here currently:

540 9L with 1/8" shaft
380C 6L
Basic 5300
and Mamba Max 5700

I'm thinking that pretty much anything but the 9L would have too high of a kV and not produce the kind of torque I'd want to see in there. What do you guys think? I'm also open to buying a new motor in case anyone has a different suggestion. I'm not real concerned about cell count or configuration as I'll probably be buying new packs for this vehicle.
