Hey guys, can I use the new mamba maxx esc with a 9l on 6-8 cells? Also, is the 9xl the wanderer version one?(http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...ND_XL&cat=20)? Ive heard of the 9xl being used with 9920's etc, and wanted to make sure this is the one
Only 8 cells will bring the 9L up to only ~21k rpm, which will work, but not in the most efficient range of the motor. Plus, at low speed, you might have more cogging because the motor is slow even at full voltage. With the 9L, I'd say use 12 cells for optimum motor speed, which is a little on the high side of the rated voltage for the Mamba Max.
The 9XL is even slower, so more voltage will be needed to get to the ideal motor speed. But that motor has more torque than the 9L, so you can gear it up more.
The vehicle being used has a lot to do with it. Since you want to use only 8 cells, this leads me to believe it might be a small vehicle? If so, maybe a MambaMax motor or an S size Wanderer may be suitable.
I've been runnig a feigao 9L in a Rustler (with stampede tires) the last week or 2 on 3s(11.1v). Can't say Ive ever tried it on 8cells, but on 3s it rocks!!!.. I like it alot. TONS of torque... I blew up the cup on the end of the MIP CVDs bone.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
