Exclamation Which One Should I Buy - 10.22.2006, 11:41 AM

1st off, I'm very noobish. I have $300 (well, exacly $320) in my pocket and i want a brushless system(motor and speedcontrol)... im looking for speed, runtime, and power. Basicly something better then my stock titans. My issue is I cant go lipo yet due to the expenses. I know i would have to upgrade part on my emaxx, but that i can due that gradually (in financial amounts). The first consideration was Novak hv 4.5 or 6.5 but since im unfamiliar with others, I'm not sure what my options are. (there are so many motors!)

thank you,
and i look foward to being denoobed.

9920 and a fiego 9xl would work well for you...
9920....costs 199.00 & the feigo 9xl will run you 90.00

If it's for only 12 cells, he could probably get away with the Mamba Max ESC instead of the 9920 and save a few bucks in the process.

And get a Neu motor instead...I guess it all depends on if he plans on going above 14 cells...

1st, thank u all for the replies. i currently have 6 cell paks (3300) but i am willing to invest in some seven cell. so if this is the case, should i get the Neu motor (which one?) or the fiego? I take it that both of these are better than a Novak 4.5/6.5 brushless system, no?

-denoobing in process....please stand by.

p.s.

If i do go with one if these systems.... how fast will i be going and what about run times?

I would go for a 8xl feigao c can. The mamba has been tested by a few with that motor. It would be good on 4s or 12 cells. Just need a seperate esc. The neu may put you over budget.

You came to the right place then!

Like Leroy (coolhand) says, the mamba-maxx with the 8XL would be a great setup.

The hv maxx is more than the titans. It is a easy to install setup. Just you
can have more umph for the money. I know what you saying about going brushless.

I have a MMax ($140) and a 8xl ($90) and its a good setup, but don't go over 14 cells. I don't know that I'd recc it to a total noob, as you have to be somewhat careful when setting it up. But assuming you are only are only a brushless n00b and not a total Rc/electronics n00b:

You will have to get an external BEC ($15-$40) and disable the one onboard (just pull pin from center wire on plug to esc.) A small fan may be needed in the hot summer months, but for now its certainly ok. No matter what, you prob want to get a small temp gun (~$25) to monitor temps to make sure you have a good setup and proper gearing. I liek to keep ESC temps below 150F, but some are more liberal. My esc stayed below 130F in ~90F weather. Yuo should be able to do ~40 mph assumming you have (14) good cells and your truck isn't really heavy (under 12lbs or so.) Running 14 cells voids the MMax warr, but its pretty safe and the reapir fee is only $50.

Here's a quick vid I did to show the performance:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkm3w-Z-Nmg Wanted better camera angles, but you get the idea.

The nitro guys at the LHS were very impressed w/ the performance. Mostly "holy #$%#" and "Jesus, that's fast"
