E-Revo gearing with Revo Transmission - 11.02.2006, 03:47 PM

I'm working on a conversion with a custom builder. He says that I should use Jato spur gears 54,56,58T and about a 26T pinion. With my cheapo gearing calculator, I've arrived at the same final gear ratio using a stock Revo Spur (40T) and a 19T pinion. They arrive at nearly the same final number, so what would be better and why 26/56 or 19/40? There must be a difference, but I lack the know-how to figure it out.

Welcome to the forums!

The jato gears are 32 (0.8) pitch, which means smaller teeth. The Revo gears use Mod1 (1mm pitch) so the teeth are thicker and seem to hold up well. Even though the jato gears fit on the Revo slipper, I would just stick to the Revo gears. Revo offers three spur sizes: 36T, 38T, and 40T. Then there are three internal gear sets: narrow, normal, and wide ratios. Pinions can be purchased here for all the sizes you'd need.

Another thread that talks all about using the Revo tranny: BL Revo using Revo Transmission?

Thanks for the welcome.

I read that thread, but did not find any gearing advice. Part of my problem is that these forums are "geared" toward brushless systems. I'm racing in a class where twin Titans and 12 cells are the only legal power. Know of any threads that deal with the titans combined with the Revo trans?

Yikes! Trying to shoehorn dual motors in a Revo will be a challenge, especially since the spur is on one side. In that case, I'd simply get an emaxx tranny in place of the Revo tranny, It will fit with a little shaving of the chassis (and I do mean "little").

My order is in and I have to use the Revo trans now. Any gearing suggestions? I'm going to try 32 pitch gears first. I have all of the Jato spurs (54,56,58). I have the close ratio gear set in the trans, but that can be changed. Any idea what sized pinion would be a good place to start?
