BIg problem fiegao shaft

Got a problem the pinion gears i got and motor shaft don't fit ang my big problem is that i'm here in manila and its really hard to find ofna gears here. You think i could have the shaft on my motor machined shoped and make thinner to fit the regular pinion gears that i bought? Also how do u series the mamba max for a two battery setup for my monster. I also setup my racer x shocks with blue and black springs with 50 oil and it still botttoms out. what should i do?

Maybe, but I would rather make the hole bigger in the gear if at all possible.

I agree completely. I'd rather screw up a $3 pinion than a $80 motor.

Also, to machine the shaft, the motor would have to be dissasembled. I'm not sure if you want to go that route. Not only that, but you'd weaken the motor. Drill out the pinion, it'll work much better for you.

The only way drilling the pinion won't work is if there isn't enough "meat" left for the grub screw.

Ah yeah, hadn't thought of that, good call. All of the pinions i work with here are pretty beefy so I wouldn't have that problem.

...Carlog what is the vehicle? Sounds like the problem I had...I got around it buy putting an E-Savage 66t 32 pitch spur onto a Hellfire diff...That means i can use 32 pitch pinions for the E-Sav / E-Maxx on my 3.2 shaft :D This MIGHT help you...maybe not...

EDIT: SORRY!! Forget ALL that...I just realised youHAVE a 5mm shaft and 3.2 pinions...They have the right pinions in the shop here...Shipping prices might kill you though :P

Thanks guys! My pinion gears came from robisons racing so it should have enough beef... i hope! what size of drill bit should i use or u guys would recommend? Actually I ordered for a 5mm pinion gear from tower hobbies i think..

I just checked out and it seems like the grub screw will be a problem there won't be anything left for it to hold on too.

Why just don't you block the motor, connect it to your controller your receiver and your
battery, than you'll give some throttle trim to make the motor running a little bit.
Than with some sand a with a lot of patience you'll be able to reduce the diameter.
Just take care of the ball bearing ... you should cover it before doing the work.

I have a friend here whos done it already but i believe that he did it to a cheaper motor from china.

Are you seriouse? isn't that to risky? it will only cost me a few bucks to have it machined shoped

Well, yes I am serious.
I never did it but it does not look so bad if you'll do it with a lot of care.
And, I just understood this is your "last chance" to achieve the goal without
having more money going out.

Back in the day no one sold 5mm 32p pinions. The only way to get them was drill them out. I drill out many many Robinson Racing 32p pinions to 5mm using a drill press and a little jig.
The biggest thing is to get the hole drilled so the pinion runs straight. Yes there is not much material for the grub screw but it will work. Just buy a few extra because you will ruin a few pinions.

The 5mm pinions from tower are nice. I got some of them cause they have
small sizes. They are mod1 pinions though. Mike sells some of the 32p pinions
in 5mm shaft size. Try the rrp ones first so you can get the gearing you want.
Then you can order a good one from mike.
