Mamba 18th scale question. - 11.12.2006, 08:04 PM

i need some help here, and some info. what i want to do is convert one of these for christmas. Its a vulcan se. my main question is what size is the motor shaft on the mini mamba applications. if it were 1/8th i'd be fine but if it isnt i would need some help. Because its nitro it uses mod 1 spure, so i would need pinions that would acomidate the motor and so it will work altogether..

help me out here guys:)

thanks, mike.

...2mm...AON ELECTRIC has a motor called a 5800L (i have one if you want it) that is a 400 size but cant be fitted into a 540 position because of its funky adaptor face...It uses a 3.2mm shaft which will open up your choices a little bit...I was running it with a Mamba 25 in my Dark Impact and it was ok...A little warm but no big problems...Just another option maybe?

You can probably find adapters to fit a 1/8 pinion to a 2mm shaft. I bought a used mini t that had a 1/8 bore pinion on a 2mm shaft motor using a crappy plastic tube to change the pinion bore size. I doubt this set up would work for brushless power, you would need a metal adapter at least. Even with a 9-10t mod1, that pinion is going to be almost as big around as the motor. And for a vehicle that heavy, I would look into something with more torque. A feigao 300 maybe, or even a 380.
