Mikes or the other guys?

I am patiently waiting for the new HPI Blast rims with the Phaltline tires to arrive at my LHS. I will be putting these on my dual BL Maxx. These new rims use 17mm hex and of course the stock Maxx is 14mm. I am trying to decide wich adapters to get. Looks like they both do the same thing, it's just a matter of personal preference? What do you guys think?

Go with the ones Mike's carrying.
It seems much lighter and also its even shinyer than the ones in hobbyetc.com.

Mike suggested that I get the Maximizers for my Revo.

I dunno. I would probably choose the Ofna...The Maximizers are kinda weird in the design and aren't really hubs. The main thing I don't like is that they don't use a 17mm nut like the rest...

A guy I work with at the LHS is using the Savage 17mm adapters and the super-large-flange nuts. The adapters fit on similarly to the Maximizers, but they are more like the standard 14mm hexes in composition. I tested out the fit of the 14mm Savage hexes on my Revo axles, and there is some play, but once they nut is tightened down it is pretty much gone. I did also have to do some shimming to allow the Savage hex to fit properly on the axle.

One thing that I notice is that the Maximizers actual hex part appears to be a little shallow (thin) and wouldn't completely fill the entire hex area in the rim. Or maybe is it that the Ofna is just thicker and extends out? Can anyone verify this?

It fills the rim.

Bottom line is they both work. I acutally use the ofnas on my revo and the maximizers on the emaxx. But... I am planning to switch to the ofnas on the emaxx soon. The maximizers work fine, but they just don't work as nicly as the ofnas IMO. The thing that bugs me about the maximizers is the plate you have to put on behind the nut, and sometimes when you take the wheel off the hex comes off and the pin falls out. Its just a sloppy feeling setup to me, to many pieces. I like the true 17mm nut like squee said. It just feels stronger and more secure.

HPI makes some flanged nuts for the Savage for use with their 17mm Savage hexes. If these nuts were to be used with the Maximizer adapters, then the washer/nut configuration would be eliminated.
