to much torque ?? - 12.15.2006, 02:56 PM

hi every body
i have an all ali brushless emaxx which is just about built the way i want it,
but i have one problem the plastic hex nuts that fit into the wheels keep spinning and either stripping the wheel or rounding off the hex nut itself. will changing them to metal ones cure this or should i just bond a set of plastic hex's to the inside of the wheels, hopefully someone else has seen this before and will have an answer , i only managed about 2 mins of driving in total since i built the truck with these batteries and havent seen it at top speed yet .thanks.

my specs
Lehner LMT 1950/8 Brushless motor
MGM 24/160 Brushless ESC
KoolFlightsystems UBEC
18 cell ib4200 batteries
strobe slipper , 40series wheels, metal cvd's etc etc

Those two solutions are ones people typically use. Or, you can get hex adaptors to use larger hex nuts (like 40 series or buggy wheels).

They sell aluminum wheel hexs to replace the plastic ones. This works pretty good. But since the hexs in your wheels are already stripped you will probably be replaceing them. I would recomend going to a 17mm hex adaptor. Much stronger than the 14mm.

These are the ones I like:

These are also good from what I have heard.

They will both require 17mm hexes in the wheels. There are lots of options out there for that.

I have had simaliar problems. I have tried aluminum hexes. It helps but with
plastic rims it will round the rims out. I like the 23mm hexes. They are great.

Peace!

The 23mm 0r 17mm ofna hexes will fix this problem it is a bigger base hex with a hex screw to clamp the wheel togeather proline, integy, and dynamite makes 23mm hex and ofna makes 17mm hex.

Do not get the Ofna's. I just purchased them and made this mistake. I should have listened to the people here that told me to get Mikes Maximizer's.

The problem with the Ofna's is that the hex "points" (if you look at the picture) are rounded off for some reason. Pic.... http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXXE06&P=Z
The Maximizer's hex points are squared, Pic... http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...er_2330&cat=42 therefore giving more "bite" inside the rim and less likely chance of stripping. Stripped mine after the second time out.
