Fried My 9920!!! -
12.23.2006, 06:01 PM
basicly heres wut happened. I altered my lisaver so that the the wires woudl only connect to one batt, instead of both of them together. The guy who i bought the lisaver form said thats why it went in reverse instead of stopping the car. When i pluged in one of the packs, a puff of smoke came out of the esc. I instantly remove it and looked at teh controller. I took some pics of it. Seems liek the brown wiere was loose, u can see it popping from teh side. That is what i beleive coudl have been it. Or it coudl have been cuz i put the lisaver to one of teh batts. Heres a diagram

It's really hard to say. Usually, when there is a puff of smoke and lifted traces like in your pic, it usually takes out something else and it's difficult to determine what unless you know how to troubleshoot electronics.
Wow, nbcaz, you really have the worst luck!

That sucks man, IMO take advantage of the holiday specials. I see one solution to your bad luck ; TAKE YOUR TIME! Every time i see you post your either in a rush or you just want it to work. If you take some time and do things right first ; you will have a happy smile on your face. Im not saying this caused you 9920 to go up in smokes but ive seen a bit of things you've rushed. For instance ; You cardboard battery holders in your revo ; that was humerous, i have to say :) ;)
The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

I WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OF JUST DRIVING MY TRUCK INTO THE OCEAN.
then only the electronics would be shot
I was ripping sand runs at the beach today when I SLAMMED into a unseen small concrete small devistating sorta hidden concrete block about 40 yards away. SEVERE IMPACT. 20 to 30 MPH EST
DAMAGE
New Era ext CHASSIS bent mid length
TRAXXAS SHIFT SERVO DESTROYED
EXPENSIVE STEERING SERVO DESTROYED
2 5S APACHEE PACKS / PUNCTURED
GORILLA STRAPS BOTH TORN
SCREWS SHIERED ONE GREAT ASSEMBLY FRONT BULK
QUARK 125B DOES NOT TURN ON
FIEGO 9XL BOTH ENDS CAME OFF BUT I think it will still work
CAN ANTONE--TOP THAT just GOT the car ripping too

Doesn't look to bad to me. Just lose contacts. If your good (and I mean good!) at soldering, try removing the wires and seeing how bad the damage is, then solder them back on indiviually and seperate.

The reason for reverse was it was a plane lisaver.
The reason for the smoke was you hooked the lisaver up wrong.
I hope this helps.
I think you may want to invest in esc while sale is on.
Peace!

Hey, you could clean up the area...and being extra carefull...you could resolder the black wire on...and change the wiring back to the way it was on the lipo saver and give a shot again....it wouldn't hurt to try

Well, thats the way they sell the lisavers on RCM, with the little deans extention. Thats how i set mine up. Before i had one RED wire on one pack, adn the black wire on the other.

That shouldnt have been the problem, since i doubt the deans connector would lose some kind of interference, and Shayne's (sjcrss) works. I bet you put the wrong polarities together.
