Motor and ESC Selection for a Jugg2???

Hello everyone. I'm new to RC and the forums. I've just started my first project, a Jugg2 that I picked up off of Ebay. At the moment I think I got everything I need except I'm having trouble deciding what motor/esc combo to go with. I know I want to go brushless and I plan on picking up two A123 Racing Hypersonic 4600 6.6v for batteries.
My question is: What would you all recommend for a motor and esc? Based on what I've read on the forums I was thinking a Mamba Max ESC but I have no ideas on motors or pinion gears.
This is going to be a backyard basher and I would be happy with speeds of 20 to 25 mph.
Any recommendations?

To be honest, I don't know much about the Juggies, but I can try...First off, welcome to the forums! I'm assuming the Juggernauts are a tranny type truck, correct?

Yes, stock it was a dual motor like a E-Maxx. Found the below picture on Tamiya's website.

You could go with an 8xl. I would think about maybe a emaxx trans in it to.
Then you have a first and second gear for more versatile truck.
I have seen some people run twin motors on them for more power.
ONe 8xl will be just as good or better though.

Wouldn't a sensored setup be better for rock crawling due to the finer control at extremely slow speeds?

Welcome to the forums!

I would second Brian G's point. A sensored motor (from my limited experience) has much better control at low speeds. The new Novak system seems perfect for your needs.

I was thinking that as well. They have a novak rock crawler motor.
Then you could go with a hvmaxx as well. 6.5 version should do nicely.
The 8xl on right gearing will do nicely as well. I use my sensorless for slow go.

HV maxx does not fit I had a project and tried to cram it in there it wont work. I used dual novak GTB 4.5R setups in mine and its too much as is. I learned the jugg is not meant for speed :005: Overall nice truck i seen it on ebay I wanted the chassis I was the one emaling you :043: im still here and interested in it if you want to sell it.

If your just gonna be doing a little back yard bashing and not really rock crawling, I would go with a 7 or 8XL and a MM ESC.

Thanks for all the great info guys. I think a Mamba Max and 8xl sounds like the trick. I'm not into crawling so I'm not sure a sensored motor would do me much good. Thanks for all the input! :027: When I get it all put together I'll let you all know how it turned out.
