Thumbs up Help Me Spend My Cash - 01.07.2007, 07:55 PM

OK i am getting a erevo kit from Mike in the mail in a few weeks:004:. I will have about 120 bucks left to spend i want to know what i should buy for if upgrade wise. I already have a servo(333oz torque), Quark 125b, 17mm hubs, and some beat around stock emaxx rims. I Still need a motor(which will be 7XL), bec, body, radio system, batteries, charger, and some misc items. I will buy these items listed above in my next order with mike in a few months. Right now i want to buy what upgrades i can with this cash and then i will start saving for the above. I know the revo is pretty solid, But is there anything you guys think i should get right away as a must have upgrade. I was thinking of many things such as: Tubes, Aluminum rockers and shock towers, GTR shocks, a good set of 40 series Wabash rims with crime fighter tires, rpm arms, rpm bumpers, rpm knuckles, rd aluminum knuckles, aluminum shock rod ends, body, and a tekno wing. These are just some of my options, what do you think i should get as my first set of upgrade options i personally have my eye on the tekno wing mounts. What do you guys recommend. Thanks

Personally I'd reccomend scrapping the upgrade idea and going for a higher quality motor.

why? you don't like the Feigaos? the reason the motor choice is the way it is, is because i need a temporary motor to last me until the mamba monster maxx comes out and this will give me temporary performance until the mamba monster maxx comes out also i can used it in other applications after i switch to the mamba monster maxx.

In my experience I have used motors and controllers from BK, Lehner, Feigao, Caste Creations, and Novak. By far the most dissapointing motor of the bunch was the Feigao. I'm not saying you need to shell out the money for a Neu motor, but its seems these feigao motors have taken over solely because of their price.

Many users on here and other forums have had good luck with the XL series motors though. I'm thinking in my application, i may have just had bad luck.

The bottom line is that it is your choice. My feigao motor did not burn up, I was just use to the Lehner quality at the time.

i see your point but for the price there is no other temporary motor i can get for this price that performs this well. If i wanted a better performing motor i would be paying more and this is temporary so i do not wish to spend more.

Just get it running!!!! Then you can decide for yourself what upgrades it needs. The revo is pretty solid in stock form, but depending on how/where you drive you may want a different setup than what the general recomendations are.

Spend your money on getting it running first. Then worry about the upgrades. You'll find out pretty quick what you need and what you dont need.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Wow...a Feigao dissapointing compared to a Novak...thats got a be a BIG smack on Feigao. I'm happy though since I run an HV6.5 myself LOL

For Upgrades I'd get the basic Revo upgrades. Tubes, Aluminum pivot balls and hollow balls, aluminum pushrods. However, I'd stay away from the Aluminum rocker psots...I've broken two in two weeks on my G2R...yet I have the same ones my BASHER 2.5R and have never had a problem with them.

However, since you are getting stock parts anyway, I would just run those until you find a need for an upgrades.

Personally, I would save that $120 for any mishaps that occur during the build. I planned for a ~$700 build when making my E-Revo and it came out to be alot more...

BL Revo: CF G2R, LMT1940/7, 6S FP 30C Lipos, MMM, Hitec 5955TG
CRT .5: 7075 Ext Chassis, LMT1930/7, FP 25C 3S Lipos, MM

yes i know what you mean. It is like you go to the hobby store planning to buy a 20 dollar part and you end up spending 50 bucks on other stuff you needed and tax, Also i like that idea of mishaps because there is always random hidin costs you forget about or new familirize your self with.
