I recently ordered a pair of 4600Kv mamba maxx systems after mike gave me some very helpful advice, but I now have the problems of selecting batteries and have some questions (hopefully I have put this in the correct place!)
First off what discharge rate can high capacity (4500mah) Nimh cells support (in your experence?) 45ish???? or more????
The two systems will be going into my tamiya wild dagger similar to what dagger thrasher is doing. I am really looking at the Poly Rc 20C range, specifically the PX3S-4350 which has 4350mah, is a 3s pack and supports 85A continous and 130Amps peak. Is that enough current as the castle creations controller can support 100A continous. I would have two battery packs, one per system - and they would be, as it were, independant of each other. 85A seems a lot, but some people are not sure and I really do not have the experience to say. Surely I always thought 45Amps max for nimh compared with approx double for lipos. Also what sort of current can deans cope with?
The other one I am thinking of is the maxamps:
New 20C MaxAmps Lipo 4000HV 3S 11.1V Pack
which is cheaper, but it has lower capacity - but does weigh a lot less. Which should I do for?

I would always opt for a slightly heavier battery solution rather than skimp on capacity simply because larger cap batteries will have a higher current rating (assuming 20C) and have less chance to heat up too much. But that's just me. :)
Im running enerland 4350mah 5s packs in my cen matrix. I think the polyRC packs you are talking about are built from the same cells. I really like them. They run great.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
Why not get 2 2s2p 8000mah lipos off mike, or do you only want to use 1 pack?
It is possible that I buy 2 2s2p 8000mAh lipos off mike:027: But I'm scared my mamba max smoked cause too much weight, is that possible? I dont want destroyed controller or motor...
With the maxamp packs, you need a 2P to power two 4600's. with the enerland 5000/4350 cells you need 1P. 2P gives you longer runtime than 1P
Yes i know that 2P gives longer runtime than 1P. Anyway, if I want some speed and long runtime, I buy 2 x 2s2p 8000mAh LiPo pack and UBEC, thats enough for e-revo? Without UBEC I cant drive with 4s LiPo, Mamba Max destroyed if I dont use it...
