WTF is up with my MGM80 -
05.02.2005, 08:01 PM
ok, heres the deal, running the mgm80 with feigao 6s in a t4 with a jr x3s pro radio. I have two big issues:
1. when the pack starts to fade, the esc looses its mind and starts driving in reverse. at first i thought it was cuz of the pack i was running, but then i ran it today and it did it again with a race quality pack.
2. it has basically been impossible for me to get my esc programmed based on the guide i got from the link on here. i can get into the programming stage, but then when i follow the steps, i never get the same beeps as i am suppose to.
any help on these two questions would be greatly appreciated as now i am wishing i would have spent the extra 30 bucks for the warrior 9918

It took me a few tries to get the programming down as well. The key is that you have to go through the complete programming process in order for it to work, which means you have to "set" each parameter along the way. And, if you go too far, it won't take either. I follow along in the printed instructions through the programming steps to make sure I am on track and stop at the end. It took me a few tries to get it, but now I have it down (I still follow the instructions). I actually had to walk away and come back another day to figure it out. Once you get frustrated, the learning tends to stop and them things get worse. once you get into the programming mode, you are almost there.

No idea on the reverse, but one of the settings has to do with neautral adjustement, so I would try to set it to a larger % dead area (you set neautral zone I think). Late May is the ETA on the computer programmable version.

How is the 6s motor? Is it really fast, I'm not sure if I want the 6s or 7s for my T4, which would you get? Did you get the motor clamp for it, and does the motor clamp/heatsink fit in the T4 ok?

thats not dangerous to put the 6s with the MGM80? the MGM80 hold 80amps and the 6s drains 108 amps...?!!

i am still debating about the 6s' potential in the t4. i am still trying to get mine programmed, but as of yet, i am not just blown away or anything.
well i was going to get the 7018 and the 6s and Mike said I would need something more like the MGM

The amp figures on the motor are somewhat misleading. The 6s won't draw 108 amp all the time. The 80 amp controller will work just fine with it. I prefer the 8s in the 1/10 scales myself.
