Gearing the MM5700? - 02.02.2007, 01:57 AM

I'm probably getting a TC4, and I'm thinking to put an MM5700 in it. If i do I'm going to run 3S Lipo.

What gearing do you guys recommend. Its going to be run mostly at a track, but sometimes in my street or a parking lot. I want a nice, all around gear ratio. Something that I can run really hard and it wont run beyond temperature limits but something with a good bit of Top Speed (looking for at 60mph at a minimum if possible).

Thanks

If you plan on running a TC4 at SoCal with a 5700 on 3s Lipo, all I can say is "good luck." Even the 5700 on 2s would be more than enough (just run your 8000mah packs one at a time). 3s Lipo would simply be too much for anything other than speed runs.

You might have heard me say this before, that the best way to find good gearing is to buy a pack of pinions and just see what gear causes it to run at the best temperature.

yep 2s is generally higher voltage than a 6 cell pack under load and much lighter....

I guess I'll just use 2S then...and maybe one 4000mah 3S pack for speed runs.

Hey BP, you interested in my TC4? I don't use it much at all (it's been at least a month). The only broken part on it is the motor clamps, and it also needs new tires (drift tires and stock tires are worn down). I could cut you a deal :D.

Sure I'd be interested. :027: (could I get it for the price on the tag though? LOL :005: )

Edit: On second thought...I'm probably just going to get a GTB3.5 and run it on 2S. I'd say it'd be as fast as the 7700 on 2S, if not faster (the 3.5 is rated at 10,500KV)...I just remembered that only sensored setups are roar legal...and I'm probably going to want to race with it...

I can bring it with me to work if you want to check it out. Body and everything. Just come in if you're interested, and we can work out a deal.
