Which Neu for my CRT? - 03.19.2007, 06:48 PM

I've searched through the threads hear and it seems the more I look the more questions I come up with. It's obviously been done before so forgive me for posting again for my own benefit. My Neu 1515 1Y is running great in my LST2 but now I'm building a CRT conversion and wondering which configuration I should go with:

1512 2d (2600kv) on 3S

or

1512 2.5d (2000kv) on 4S

This will be used specifically for racing. I have an extra Mamba Max that I'll be using for my controller if that makes any difference in the selection. Any pros/cons you can input will be appreciated. Will I see better runtimes on the 2.5d? Enough to compensate for extra weight of the additional cells?

The 1512 with 4s for sure; I don't think anyone will vote for the other option! I think that 3s is way to little voltage to power that truggy properly; 4s is the bare minimum with 1/8 scale conversions...

BTW how is your BL LST doing? I'm thinking of trading in my truggy for an aftershock. (It will be BL of course)

Bye:018:

Cemetary, I would keep the LSP for sure.

I probably will, its just that I really cant race anymore due to work and want something more bash-able, but can also race every once and a while. (What trucks fits this profile?)

Sorry for the temporary thread Hi-jack

I think the LSP is a pretty good truck for that. Yea, it doesn't have alot of ground clearance, but its not fragile like some, but if you want something else, definately go with the Revo.

I just did a Muggy conversion and it was really easy. Since the Muggy is setup like an 1/8th scale buggy, with the center diff, it was just a matter of bolting a motor mount to the diff mount. I did mine in less than a day and the Muggy has been outstanding as a basher and does alright on the track too. I did have to do some doctoring, in terms of chassis stiffness and steering, but it wasn't anything major. I love my Muggy. I also looked at the LST, but the lack of the center diff led me to the Muggy.

BTW, why are you looking at the 1512 insead of the 1515. I would imagine that the 1515 will have significantly more torque. Unless my scale is wrong, my Muggy weighs in at around 13lbs with the stock tires and a 6Ah 4S battery pack.

What controller are you going to run?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I kinda figured the 2.5d would be the choice but I know someone running the 2d in their CRT with good results. I posted here mostly to get some other opinions and confirm my own choice.

Aangel - I think I mentioned in my other post that I will be running a Mamba Max. The same combo as in my LST2 - which is running great BTW. I went up 3t on my pinon and the 1515 1Y and Mamba max didn't even blink. Wish I could say the same for my True RC 4S 4400 pack. The eagle tree data from my WOT runs show serious dips below 3V/cell. Pack was hot when I finally decided to check it. The ESC never not over 130F according to the Nomadio temp sensor I have on it. It ran great at the track with my 5S 6000mah Maxamps pack. As for the 1515 vs 1512 - the 1512 should be more than enough torque for a race only CRT.
