Pretty much depends on the setup and what kind of speed you want.

I'd say a 1940 or 1950 on 4S.

And since you're running the Quark, you could also go with a Neu motor. They're just as good as the 19xx LMTs, but are 4 pole, which runs great with the Quark.

Yeah, the Neus are nice and I'm considering getting one. For an emaxx, you could go with either a 1512 or 1515. I'd go with the 1515 and assuming that you are going with 4S, either a 1Y (2200kv) or 2.5D (1700kv) depending on how much speed you want. I belive that the 2.5D should be all you'll need for the track and will do well for you if you do ever go to 5S lipo. I think that the 1Y is a bit too hot for 5S, although others may disagree.

If you are on a budget 8XL on 4s lipo is good but Neu 1515 1 Y on 4s would be better for it runs cooler and plenty of power on the track.

Gorillamaxx Revo CF version on Mamba maxx ESC with NEU 1515 1Y on Maxamps 4s 8000mah Lipo

How does a 1515/1Y compare on 4s lipo (temp-wise) to a 9XL on 5s lipo? Curious is all...

Also, how does a 1y on 4s compare to a 2.5d on 5s lipo? power, and temp?

i think i'll get one of each
neu 1515 1y
8xl (is the feigao/wanderer/nemisis good or get purple feigao/)
any ideas of exactly which of each i should get
this will be in a g2r not sure which pinion yet.
this track is a pro truggy style track, big jumps , not many long straights

oh yeah THANKS for responses i'm still learning and very appreciative of all you knowledge sharers.

i would just love to spank those nitro guys or at least have a drivers chance.

I, too, am still learning. So far, I probably have half a dozen or so Feigaos. I have three 7XLs, two 8XLs, and an 8L. I thought that I had settled on what I wanted, which was a Neu 1515/1y running on 4S. I got all caught up with getting expensive batteries that could keep up with the current demands of a fairly hot setup. Then I ran across a post by jhautz. He was running a pretty big setup on 5S lipo using the fairly inexpensive truerc 8Ah packs. So...I thought, hey, more voltage, less current draw and maybe not need the expensive battery packs. I ventured into running a 5S system. It turned out that the truerc 5S pack is only marginally taller than a 4S 8Ah pack from maxamps. Also, when I went to truggies, I discovered all of that room under the body.

Now...I'm not so sure about the 1515/1y. I think I'm going to grab me a 9XL, to run on the 5S and see how that does. My point is that it's tough to take advise on what will be right for you. It's also tough to give advise on what will be the best for someone else. What you want/need can change with a thought. The Feigaos are also nice, in that they let you try things out before putting down a bunch of money on something really nice. I know that I've spent more on all of the Feigaos that I've bought than I would have on a single Neu, but I do now have a bunch of different motors and have gained some experience.

The best advise that I can give you is this. I know that you will be tempted with speed and power coming from a faster motor, which the 1Y is. I've found that a more conservative approach usually gets you more comfortable running with a minimal sacrifice in speed.

If you are planning to run your truck on a track, I'd go for either the 8XL or the 1515/2.5d. Most of what they lack in speed by virtue of rpms, can be made up for with gearing. It's usually easier to gear up with a milder motor, than it is to gear down with a hotter motor. Geez, I'm getting long winded.

I ran my 1515 1/y on 5s...it ran a tad warmer and my bats actually got real warm. But over all, I would say it's safe. I wouldn't race it in 90* weather though. On my 4s, it runs WAY cool. The controller barely got warm in 70*F the other day.

The only shame about the Neu motors (other than the price) is that there are such gaps in the line up. If they had something in between the 1y and 2.5d, I'd jump on that. Something like a 1900 or 2000kv for 5S for a fast setup.

I think the Neu would be a better option IMO. :032:
