Need help with HB diffs

2 questions for you guys.
1.) I have my car put together nicely except for the front diff the rear diff has 10,000 diff weight oil and i have a fairly heavy truck. Is ten k good for the rear of my heavy truck and what should i use in the front. I would prefer to keep the same diff fluid in the rear because i don't feel like refiling it again but if it will be worth it what diff oils should i use and will 10k work. What should i do
2.) i Have these diffs. i broke this

What part number or part name is this called and where and can i order/get it singly. Thanks guys

its called spider gear, or satelite gear.

i run 50k in my mt, works nice.

Thanks serum. this was actually man made damage i was trying to pry it of of the custom adapter i made to use the sliders for revo stubs. i was in a hurry and instead of cutting them with a grinder wheel or cutting wheel i used lock cutters to cut them and this made a very tight fit and lots of hammering was required to fit it to the gear. once together i noticed the diff action was very crappy and not as good as one of the better custom shafts i made so i remade some shafts out of revo stubs today, and after i made them i had to install them. SO i had to pry of the old one and i pried so hard on the gear it broke but now i got a good set of shafts and all i need is the gear. BUT anyway serum or any one else do you guys have any opinions on what diff weight i should use in the front while using 10k fluid in the rear. Keep in mind my truck is a tad heaver than most. thanks.

I would go a tad thicker in the front, to be honest, i am using 30K or thicker in the front.

i tought you broke the gear while bashing.
but you broke it due to modifying your differential, now i'm not woried about mine anymore.
and about the oil, with 50k there is not much resistance turning the wheels opposite deriction. so i might go even thicker in the future.
as serum say use atleast 30k.
the rear can be thinner oil (10k or 15k, 20k) as you want some traction.
i personally run 50k F/R as i like to slide.

sorry i scared you jolly. Thanks for the recommondations. BTW who make these oils. my LHS carries ofna and they only have 3,7,10,20,30,50. where do you get 35,40,45,15 and so on who makes those in between sizes.

edit: wait wait, you mean 45w or 45k w?

'cause the first there are plenty.

losi is good shock oil, so is associated.
mugen, kyosho, trinity, ...

in diff oils ( like the 20K), the weight goes up by atlaest 10k at a time. no 45k, 35k, ... only 20k, 30k, 50k, ... up till 500K of some manufacturers.
under 10k there plenty, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 7000, 100000. some even carry 6000w

HA! That's funny. I was worried at first too. I've got some on the workbench that I'm getting ready to put in a CRT.

By the way, what is the best way to get the grease out of diffs?

brake parts cleaner for nasty grease.
silicone spray for silicone diff oil.
thin's it out.

You might actually need to worry about your diffs, depending on when they were made. HB had some really good gears in the diffs, until HPI desided to take over. Parts quality went to the $h!thole after that. Not all parts, mind you, mainly the gears. Anywho, Kyosho MP777/MP7.5 gears will work and are alot stronger.

The kyosho 777/mp7.5 gears are the worse of them all? They are made from cheap pot metal/aluminum. softer than butter.

Not from my understanding, but I'm not sure...I read it on truggyracers that the Kyosho gears are the way to go if you have problems with the HB gears. Better yet is the old HB gears if you can find them.

Perhaps there is another gear you can use, but used in savages these gears are torn apart pretty quick..
