Unhappy info on Emaxx upgrades...please help - 05.17.2007, 07:45 AM

Hi,

I am new to the RC trucks world and have bought an Emaxx. my question is can any body advices or prepare a list of the parts that can be replaced in the Emaxx regarding the drive line, gear, shafts and other things to make the Emax much heavey duty with more tourqe in the 1st gear?!! No crush protection parts are needed and i dont care much about high speed on the 2nd gear as it is fast enough for me.

I would really appreciate any help in this regard as the local RC shop in my city have no upgrades parts at all!!!
I did bought a 7cell batts 4200. other parts are the original manufacture parts that keep breaking after few tuff runs only!!!
Please help me guys and many thanks to all of you.

FLM chassis
FLM combo or hybrid bulkheads
FLM shocktowers
RPM arms
RPM wear plates

and your maxx will be like a tank

Have all these and sice i got them never broke anything

IMHO tmaxx 3.3 stuff is nothing special as bulkheads brake as fast as original maxx ones

The wisest thing to do;

3.3 diffhousings
FLM diffcups with M3 holes/upgraded ringgear
FLM bulks
if you REALY want a tough as nails drivetrain, get the FLM 1/8th combo bulks with hotbodies diffs.
3.3 driveshafts (if you use these with the 1/8th diffs, you also need special output shafts on the 1/8th diffs)
RPM arms
integy 3.3 knuckles
FLM e-maxx chassis
FLM shocktowers
steel idlers

I have purchased many of the parts listed here. If you want to see my documented build, you can goto:

http://picasaweb.google.com/ssspconcepts/TitanMaxx

I have labeled most of the pictures to give you some hints on the building process. It's only my second monster truck (I've built loads of 1/10 scale cars), so there are definitely a lot of folks on this forum that know the process better than I...but this will help.

If you want to see my first monster truck, goto:

http://picasaweb.google.com/ssspconcepts/MaxximusEMaxx

Hope this helps.

How deeps is your pockets :018:

The above parts will bullet proof your Emaxx for sure but I don't see shelling out that much if all you're going to run is Titans. I bought an Emaxx for my 3 year old son and beefed it up with off brand parts. Almost 2 years later the truck is still running strong even with me bashing the heck out of it while waiting on parts for my Revo. The only real mainline parts I bought was MIP center shafts and some diff cups. The stock plastic cups flex and cause gear grind. Dispite this, our stock plastic cup/gears lasted almost 2 years. When I replaced the gears I figured I would throw on a set of Aluminum diff cups. Here is a link to my emaxx on a budget using off brand parts with a Novak BL.

These trucks take a lot of money...even on a budget. Now if you got deep pockets, that list posted by Serum will totaly get you fixed up...exspecaily using the 1/8 stuff! There is no way a Titan is breaking those diffs! The only thing I would change is the 3.3 shafts for CVDs. It's just about choice on that one. They both will work really well.

Thumbs up What Have I Been Missing??? - 10.10.2007, 10:24 AM

It has been quite some time since I have visited the forum, but I have been on here all day reading some of the stories and build issues. Your trucks are very nice and I agree with you about your philosiphies on building these monsters. If you are going to do it, then do it right the first time or why bother. My wife bought me an EMAXX for my birthday 2 years ago to fulfill a childhood dream. We now have three complete metal monsters and one in the building phase at the moment. I build like you. Super strong, super fast, and super cool. I want my vehicles to not just run good, but look awesome as well. It may take a little bit longer to complete a project, but when the job is done you are assured that it will not break down while you are out having fun with it. Steel, titanium, and aluminum is the way to go for longevity. Brushless is also a costly means of power, but well worth the efforts and the $$$$ spent once you are out there bashing or racing your friends. Leaving a lasting impression on people is so much fun, and when they start asking you where to get the products you have is cool.

I began to upgrade my first Emaxx with off brand hop-ups and began to realize that if you buy cheap stuff to save money up front that it will cost you more in the long run in time, money, not to mention agrivation and frustration. So if you are on the fence because of deciding dollars verse quality of products, then wait it out and get what you really want to make your project truly worth your efforts and then you will really enjoy it. Lets face it none of us can afford what we are doing here, but still we just have to do it for our own self gratification. That is what makes this so much fun all around. Have a great day and keep up the good work guys.
