only one battery connecting to hv maxx?? - 06.15.2007, 03:11 AM

hiya,
i just went to have a run with my emaxx, and it seems only 1 battery is gettting through, it was going really slow with the batts at peak so i checked the esc by hooking up one plug to a batt, it worked, then the other and it didnt, so 1 plug on the esc isnt getting power, and i checked it on numerous batteries so its not them, whats wrong?
thanks,
alex

Broken solder joint on the ESC/Battery wires or perhaps on the connector?

Did you remove the factory connectors and solder on deans?

Other than that I would say you are hosed and would need to send it in to get looked at unless you want to open her up and void any type of warranty.

To run with one battery you have to hook up the battery to the BAT2 input and then short the BAT1 wires

So no cracked joints at the ESC PCB itself?

If not, the issue is most likely deeper in to the ESC.

Did you do more than on plug at a time?
Did you test the esc to see if it worked with the other pluged unplugged?
Did the esc come on and didn't try to do nothing else?
Do you have pics of how you got it wired?

Peace!

One last option would be to use one battery connector on the HvMaxx, but build a Y-lead so you can run 2 packs in series through that one connector. There is a chance it might blow the esc totally though if theres something more seriously wrong inside it.....

Maybe one of your batteries isn't working. Did you try both batteries each on both plugs? Also, I believe the plugs are wired in series so one battery by itself connected to one of the plugs would not work unless you shorted out the other plug.

everything was working fine, but now only one battery plug on the esc is getting through, i checked numerous batteries on it including the one which worked on the other plug and it still wont get through, i unsoldered and resolder it, and still nothing on that plug

Try the mod I suggested- it sounds like a busted esc to me, so it wont matter if it blows up completely anyway- how long have you had it for? Im thinking Novak will probably warranty it if its less than 120 days old, regardless of whether its set up for single battery use or not.

Just incase you havent sent it in yet- make sure that the connections on the deans plugs are clean/good- no shorting between the terminals.
