diff housing - 06.20.2007, 02:33 AM

I currently have a stock geared and stock Titans E-Maxx w/ dogbone centers and 3.3 to the wheels. I just bought my AL diff cup w/ 3mm screws and steel idlers. Do I need an aluminum diff housing or can I run stock? If I upgrade to a high end BL system should I get an AL housing then? Thanks

plastic housing has some flex so there is a chance to strip bevel gear + pinion. The dif. alu housing is recommended for standard maxx if running with high quality batteries and a must have for BL system

Thanks, I may need to get one. I am using SPC matched 7-cell packs. The weakest link gives and my diff and tranny or next.

i've had GA 7075 aluminum diff cases with FLM modified cups for almost a year, front and back, and have had zero problems (soon to be upgraded to UE 8 spyder diffs). it's nice to be able to put something strong in and not have to worry about it again.

What are your plans for your current Diffs? Ebay or into another truck....

Good good, I'd hate to see them go to someone undeserving. I would dearly like to get some of the alloy cups but they are so damn expensive, relatively speaking, for such a small/simple item. One day....

yep, i'm glad they're going to a good home. GA's stuff is amazing - super tough and their customer service is top notch. i'm sure my diffs would hold up to the lehner, but i just don't want to take any chances...thus the UEs.

i know someone who's selling some used 6 spyder UE's for $190 and he might go a bit lower if you're interested.

I'm going the UE route also.....

The odd part is I have brand new GA housings (mirror polished), FLM cups w/modified gears and all new internals that I have never assembled.....so I'll sell them to put together the UE's.

They're relevant to my interests :) How much would you want for them without the housings?
