Losi 8ight rtr vs Competition. -
08.30.2007, 12:08 PM
Does anyone know how big the differences is? The RTR versions is VERY cheap att amainhobbies ($560) and that with a spektrum radio!
Im considering buying the RTR version and selling the engine and my own radio, which would make it a even sweeter deal!
What do you guys think?
Br,
Håkan

are you racing or bashing. You may be able to sell the nitro parts and your radio and get about 200 bucks. That would bring the price down to 350 which is pretty good for a roller with a good radio system. I'd say go for it, but be prepared to put some money into the motor/ecs/batterys!!!!

I have a matrix pro with MM, 1940/8 and 4S 8000mah lipos.
Was thinking of just moving the electronics over to a new buggy!
Im not racing seriously, just for fun.

That sounds great, but is there a reason that they dont want to use the RTR radio? I have a KO-PROPO EX10 today but that Spektrum looks really nice without the antenna! :)

Don't the competition (or kit or pro) models come with extra upgraded goodies like CF or Al parts? I'm lazy and don't wanna go look.

Is that suppose to be sarcastic? I have been to their homepage and its REALLY not easy to tell what the differences are and its impossible to tell if the upgraded goodies are worth the extra $$.
I have a matrix pro and I have friends that have the matrix RTR and I can tell you that MOST of the upgraded goodies I can do without!
I wanted to hear ppls experinces with the losi 8ight rtr vs competition, maybe I was not clear about that, could be my english perhaps? Im swedish...not lazy..

LOL. No, it wasn't sarcastic. It was actually a subtle was of asking what those upgrades are - and it looks like gixxer came through!

Hehe I thought it was a subtle way of calling me lazy for not trying to find this information myself :)

the pro kit comes with nitrate coated hinge pins, king pins, extra shock springs, thicker shock towers and frame. I believe the cluth also has different pads but I am not 100% on that since I never used the clutch.

Hmm yes I can see that there is a difference on the shock towers!
Thanks for the input! :)

also the body, shock shafts have the nitrate coating and aluminum shock caps (rtr are plastic).
if using the rtr you will probably want to atleast pick up the pro shock towers. I think you can do with out everything else.

Sounds great! I will probably do what my friends have done with their Matrix RTR and only update parts when they break or when you notice some real disadvantage!

I have seena couple rtrs at the track and have driven one. You won't see any difference in how it drives/functions.
As mentioned there are some stronger parts and general "upgrades" on the kit/race roller. But don't think you are missing out somehow if you want to get the rtr... nothing wrong with it at all. It even comes with white wheels, which I prefer, ha ha

I actually converted the rtr. sold the radio and motor onsite at the track. The only things I have upgraded are the shock towers and front shock caps.
