Help with gearing - 09.01.2007, 08:33 PM

As some of you know I am trying to get a Neu to work with a MM in an E-Maxx. I have been readnig that getting the gears to mesh may be a problem. I have also been told to gear conservatively to prevent cogging.

The distance between the mid point of the motor shaft and my transmission shaft is 35mm. According to Brians calculator I should be able to get a 52t mod1 spur to mesh with a 17t pinion.

Differential Ratio: 2.8461538461538462
Transmission Ratio: 1.7222222222222223
Other Ratio: 1
Spur Tooth Count: 52
Pinion Tooth Count: 17
Total Voltage: 16.8
Motor KV: 2200
Tire Diameter (inches): 6
Tire Ballooning (inches): 0
Motor Current Draw: 0
Motor coil Ω: 0.006
Spur/Pinion Ratio: 3.06 : 1
Total Ratio: 14.99346 : 1
Tire Circumference (inches): 18.85 inches (478.78mm)
Total Motor Speed: 36960 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 44 MPH (70.68km/h)

Who makes and where can I get a larger diameter spur so that I can decrease the size of the pinion?

The mod1 52 tooth spur is off a team associated mgt monster truck. It fits the stock emaxx slipper with no mods. I do not know of anything larger than that.

Well I just order a 17t pinion from Mike. If I get too much cogging I'll be in the market for a Quark or a MGM. Which do you think will be better with my Neu 1515/1y?

I think the mgm's are all sold out just like the neu's. I am still waiting to try em out.
