Do I really need two power switches? - 09.08.2007, 09:18 PM

I just finished soldering up the new quark and the neu 1515 1y. Do I really need both power switches or can I solder one up and just use the other?

Also, do you think I should do the heat mod now or should I wait until i have a few runs on it? I have read that some people tried it on new controllers and the thermal tape did not want to let go.
My second hesitation is that Sky + Technology is in Carson, Ca exactly 3.17 miles from my office according to mapquest. It would be really easy to get warranty service, and shipping will cost me just a few cents in gas. (though I would rather do the mod than ruin a day of bashing)

I'd run it a while before doing any modding...

And I would keep the switches just for convenience. For example, if you are ever racing.... you can plug the battery in, put the body on while waiting for your race, and then just flip the switches to go. It's really not a big deal... as you can just use the battery connection as the primary "switch". Really, you can solder up both switch leads if you want.

ps: I have removed or replaced the swithes on my MM because I have had them fail during races... :( but assuming the switches work properly there is no reason not to have them.

I was actually thinking of removing one switch and keeping the other. Do you thinkit would work if I removed the BEC switch but left the ESC switch?

Sure... that will work if you want it that way. Without a switch, the bec is on whenever the battery is plugged in.

The esc switch only does the esc.
